I haven't owned a shotgun in years, so i decided it was time to get one. I went to Cabella's intending to get a Mossberg maverick 88. They're cheap, but they do the job. Looking through their pre-owned section, i ran across the little gem in the picture. It's a Hatsan MPA which is basically an identical clone to a Benelli M4 that's made in Turkey. When I saw the price tag at $300, that made my decision for me. You don't see semi-auto shotguns with all these features that cheap.

Oh, and I put a few Kin in the pic along with my TGLB's favorite beverage

Dude, that's about 92 kinds of awesome! Congrats on an epic piece of firepower!!! Those bruisers are pretty freakin epic as well!! :D

Go shoot it and give a full report... Inexpensive S/A's scare me a bit with regard to reliability.

Even inexpensive pump shotty's can have reliability issues. My H&R partner (china 870 clone) had a very weak magazine tube spring which caused the last shell or two in the tube to fail to chamber. Fixed it by replacing the china spring with a 870 +2 extension spring. It's fine now, but it is not the gun that the 870 is.

before you trust your life to it, make sure it's good to go. ;)

I took it out today and ran 150 shells through it. Below is a list of the shells, the number of them, and the results. All the ammo was bought from Cabela's yesterday, so it's all new.

Winchester® Military-Grade Buckshot 2 3/4" 00 buckshot: 40 rounds. 100% functionality with absolutely no issues at any firing speed

Remington® Express Buckshot 2 3/4" 00 buckshot: 30 rounds. 100% functionality with absolutely no issues at any firing speed

Herter's® Defense Shotshells 2-3/4-in. Multidefense: 30 rounds. 100% functionality with absolutely no issues at any firing speed. Best patterning of any round tested

Federal Premium® Black Cloud® Snow Goose Shotshells 3" BB: 25 rounds.100% functionality with absolutely no issues at any firing speed.

Hevi-Shot® Low-Recoil Magnum Blend Turkey Loads 3" #7 shot: 25 rounds. Failed to cycle every time. Not usable in this weapon.

I tried to run through a variety of load, velocity and brand types. This shotgun does VERY well with everything but the low recoil loads that I tried. This is obviously not definitive, but it makes me fell pretty good about this weapon.

It also cycles as fast as i could pull the trigger. A 6 round dump was FAST. It is a good bit faster than my Aug. The trigger pull is about 6#. The recoil is slightly less than in my friends Mossberg 500, but the Hatsan is a good bit lighter than the Mossberg, so the difference in recoil is not huge

Thats good to know. I suppose if low recoil rounds were something you wanted to shoot your could go with a lighter spring set up, but good that it worked well with regular shells and 3".

Is the choke fixed in that model or does it have screw in chokes? Also what is the mag tube capacity?

.

The choke is fixed. The capacity with 2-3/4" shells is 5+1. With 3" shells it's only 4+1

The Benelli extension tubes will fit this weapon, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting it to 7+1 if you prefer that

Love shotties! Ving Rhames in Dawn of the Dead!!!

Me too Cappy. I never really fell in love with pumps but i absolutely love semi-autos. There's something poetic about being able to dump 6 rounds of 00 buck on target in under 3 seconds.

The black and blue G-10 really stands out in the picture, so pretty!

Great looking gun, it looks right at home with those beautiful knives

Good looking shotgun, in general most auto's do much better with full power loads. I know with my saiga it took some tinkering to get it to be 100 percent with anything but full loads. However it is a kick to dump 10,12 or 20 on a target fast.
