To all my Survive Buddies...

Ok, so I love flashlights just about as much as I love knives. I happened across the new Maglite ML300LX

I always loved maglights and have used a magcharger on duty for years. The old D cell maglites work better as hammers and clubs than they do as flashligts. Of course they are very durable, but they have been WAY behind the technology curve as far as light output goes. I orderd one of the new Maglites. It is awesome. Maglite has finally caught up with the times. 625 lumens of sunburn inducing light for 17 hours! Multiple modes and a new 1/4 turn spot to flood head.

The thing is awesome. Yes it is heavy and big, but if you always loved Maglites and were dissapointed by their dim light, then you need one of these. Made in USA too. I will get some pics tonight once it is dark out.

Cool man, thanks for sharing.

"If you always loved Maglites and were dissapointed by their dim light" This describes me perfectly. I used to think my 3 D cell Maglite was the best thing ever, but now the yellowey, dim light from the old school bulb really shows it's age. One of my favorite possessions was my Maglite solitaire as a kid.

I got a 2 AA LED Maglite a few Christmases ago and was pleased with the output and modes, but the almost mandatory 2 hand twisting needed to operate it means it stays on the shelf as I'm grabbing for my Thrunite Archer.

I feel like I need to take another look at their website now!

Yeah I normally carry a streamlight Strion LED. 250 lumens and pocketable is usually plenty bright. I can tell you this for sure... If you turn both on at the same time and shine them at the same spot the Mag completely floods out the strion's beam. It makes the strion seem dim.

Here are some pics.

The side of my house. 2130 hrs ambient street lights

260 Lumens - Strion LED

Maglite ML300LX Eco mode, 58 lumens

Maglite ML300LX, High, 625 lumens

And the obligatory knife oriented photo. My favorite knife... The 5.1

Glad the weight is worth the shine! I want one for the truck now. Thanks for posting Riz!

I liked seeing all the pics of beam strength. Thanks for taking the time to do that. Too bad Maglite doesn't offer it on orange!

I looked into those a while ago when looking for a maglite upgrade. I am glad to see some actual photos. That thing looks pretty dang bright! I'll have to look it up again. Thanks for sharing riz.

Nice looking Mag! It's good to see Maglite is catching up with the competition.

I have an Olight SR95S UT Intimidator. It has a 1250 lumen round LED and has a throw distance of 3281 ft!!! It's overkill, but I am a flashlightoholic.

I've got 3 old school 4-D Maglites that don't get the love anymore. One of these days, I've got to get an LED conversion kit for one (then the others, if I like it).

Oooh. That looks awesome. I may have to look into one. :) We use flashlights a lot around here, especially during the winter.
Thanks for the heads up.

Led conversions kits are ok. Ive tried them and they definitely dont shine like this monster.

A couple of my coworkers use those Olights and they are crazy bright. Not bad for the money.

Yes it still feels like a club and orange would be badass!

I feel that for the money and a US made product, with the renound Maglite durability and 17 hours of full power run time on easy to find batteries, this thing is a steal. Obviously if you are looking for a light weight product there are better choices, but for a toolbox, truck or car or a light to use on a jobsite or hang from a duty belt, its a great deal.

And I forgot to take pics of the wide angle flood beam. Also forgot that they make a 2 D cell version that is 520+ lumens for 7 hours run time. Still a high performance light in a slightly smaller lighter package.

That's exactly the way I would describe the led conversions, they work, they're not bad, but just ok.

Riz, this is a 3D cell light, right? The body almost looks like it would hold four cells.

A few years ago when I noticed the LED conversions I got one, but it was pretty underwhelming compared to the newer models that are designed to run the LED. Still definitely an upgrade, though!
