hi everyone,,
my father passed away friday and his wife is broke.we have decided to help her sell off my dads gun collection.my question is were is a good place to get current value on his guns??most are lightly used ruger and s&w handguns and a few rifles.any help would be appreciated:thumbup:

Blue Book of gun values. Most gun stores are going to try and low ball you but they are way better than pawn shops. If you have time try and consign them at a popular gun store in your area, the store will set the price and they will have a consignment fee.

Check a number of for sale threads on gunbroker.com. You'll get an idea of the average asking price. Keep in mind it an auction sight though and the actual selling price may differ. It will give you a good idea though. And you don't have to be registered to search.

Sorry for your loss,

I was going to say the same as adrock, gun broker would be a decent place to get price ranges of varying conditions. Or try a local shooting range, some have a "Pro Shop" for guns.

Sorry for your loss reddawn. I would talk to family members that would be able to help her out by giving her a generous/fair price, and they would be able to have cherished memento of your father. Some of my family guns are the most cherished to me and will leave to my grandchildren.

Sorry for your loss Brother, and I have nothing else to add to what the others have said already. Gun Broker and Blue Book of gun values for sure. If he had any Military types try local, VFW, American Legion, AMVETS as I'm sure someone there could help with those.

I am very sorry for your loss, reddawn.

I can't add anything to what my fellow hogs have said.

thanks every one,,i am buying one or two myself to help out.but the rest of my family is kinda broke.so i will probably try the consignment route at a local gun shop. tough times:(
