I'm sorry if this doesn't belong here, but I wanted to share this with all of my friends here at this forum.(I'm going to have to build an email list)

The picture is of me breaking three boards on fire with a hammerfist. Let me know what you think.

I would hope not... 'cause if he was outnumbered by three to one before, it's now up to 6 to 1... better hope he can whittle them all down to shavings with his balis that must be hidden in there somewhere...

That's a neat little dude in your signature.

I used to break ice blocks. One day I got a wild idea to light them on fire. The lighter fluid created a small puddle on top of the first block. When I broke it lighter fluid flew onto my gi and caught me on fire. I was able to put it out real fast. Luckily that was not in front of a crowd. Later I learned how to put the fluid on the ice with out making it splatter.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago.

Lee Barton, a friend of mine, was putting on a M/A demo at a club here in Jax called Club 5. We run the fights there on Friday nights and in his act he would use nunchakus with black lights that made them appear to glow. It is a really cool demo. He finishes the act with his fire chucks. Well this time he tried something new and used a different type of gi with flourescent paint on it. Well as you have probably guess he lit himself on fire all while playing "The Devil went down to Georgia". He has been in the burn center in Orlando for over a month now. He also can not come outside during the day for a full year!

In other words. Be careful with fire.

Boards are OK cause they soak up the fluid but if you switch to other things to break be very careful.

I helped a friend of mine make a plastic sheath for his Katanas out of the plastic they use for blacklight paraphenalia (sp?) I dont know where he got the plastic though. he also wore a mask of some type and a black Gi that had a tiger painted on the back. Except you couldnt see the tiger in the daytime only under a blacklight. I dont know what type of paint was used however. Mike you wouldnt happen to have an avi of that fire nunchaku demo would you? I suppose I could make my own "firechuck" demo BUT, I sincerely doubt Chuck would loet me coat him with lighter fluid while he did a bali routine. I always thought of getting a junk bali and coating it with the jelly that they use in movies (just the blade) and trying some stuff but Id be really nervous.

Mike, Did you use regular ice or dry ice? You see I have never broken ice and it sounds like a great challenge.

I think I would like to see you break one board cross grain. It does not not take much to get a board to break at the grain.

It makes for a real nice show though. I studied theater in collage, so I know all about putting on a good show

Thanks, JohnR7

One board cross grain is no problem. Now if you meant two boards cross grain thats another story. Two boards cross grain will not break.

One board is not tough to break. That is why we break multiple boards or add difficulty to the skill level for example setting the boards on fire.
