Sure you can... once you're a paying member.

All you need to do is go up to the top of this — or any — page and click on "Upgrade your forums experience." Memberships cost as little as ten dollars, and go up from there, depending on what level you want.

Once you do that, you can have an avatar, a signature, and other benefits, too.
