Office Sheath

I've read the posts here (along with my own) about sheaths. I have a good idea of what I'd like to have. But I still am not sure on where to wear it. I work a 40 hour a week desk job and like to have my knife on me at all times. I've found that the belt-loop position, vertical or horizontal, can get in the way when I'm wheelin' around in my office chair. Is there a best way to conceal my bali, keep it well out of the way and have it remain comfortable all day? And a quick draw is not a priority at work. I'd love to hear your opinions.

I'd suggest IWB (In the Waist Band) for you. goes in your pants, the sheath clips onto your belt, and it stays out of the way. given that you'd have to get used to it, it'd probably work well for you

I've heard of the IWB type of sheath before, but I can't imagine it being anything but uncomfortable. But, if so many are wearing it this way, it can't be that bad.

Thanks Darth

And what is your reason for carrying it? Utility? Defense?

I've never understood the neck sheath for everyday carry for defense. I use my excellent XconcealX (thanks Clay) neck sheath as a sort of very light weight shoulder rig at the gym. But I'm wearing a tanktop so I can easily reach the knife if necessary. But in an office, you're probably wearing at least a sportshirt if not a dressshirt (have you tried French cuffs? But, that's another thread...) either one tucked into your pants. So, how are you gonna reach this knife around your neck? If you need to open a box of copier paper, are you gonna take your shirt off? Some of the ladies might like that idea, but there are rules about that sort of thing these days. And as for defense, well, "Excuse me while I unbutton my shirt, Mr. Mugger..." Yeah, right.

Have you thought about looking around the case selections at a local store that sells Cell phones? A lot of those phones are small enough today that one of their "sheaths" might be modified slightly to disguise a balisong. Nobody thinks twice about someone carrying a cell phone these days. Look for one that has a Motorola logo or some such thing on it.

Balisongs -- because it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!

I really don't have to worry about anyone "freaking out" here at work if I take out my knife. I often practice at my desk. Nobody seems to mind too much (all guys). It is just a matter of the the thing getting in the way from time to time. It catches on the arm of my chair when I stand and sometimes gets in the way of diggin' in my pocket while sitting down. And I don't think I'll be using this knife for defense. I live in rural Wisconsin where most folk take great offense to gettin' mugged 'n' such.

well lets see.......do you wear a jacket? because then you could probably get away with a shoulder rig. I've heard that inverted V's arent intrusive either.

Blasto,

I also work abt 40 hrs a week in the office. I carry mine (the standard rostfrei waved handle) in a small sheath stuffed vertically at the back pocket of my pants. To prevent it shifting around, I stuff my car key (with its wallet) next to it. However, sometime it will fall down horizontal in the pocket and annoyed me. However, as I have the habit of reaching in and put it back in place, it seldom happens.

Another way is to use mag-lite torchlight case (nylon). I have its cover sewn to form a belt loop (instead of using the original belt loop) and wear it IWB. It sort of hanging freely inside my pants and the bulk will be barely noticeable (might be considered natural

) as I wear it just beside the first front loop of my pants. It is easily reacheable (provided you tuck your shirt in) and if you have it tang down, you can do a latch drop opening really fast

Good luck!
