At the Oregon Knife Collector's Show in Eugene, OR, I got to see a Schrade Officer's Model, not sure if that is the correct name, sort of looks like a Swiss Army Knife, with a red handle and numerous blades/tools. It was in new condition but the blade was marked "US Senate" and the dealer had $175 on it. I had no idea of thge value, so I did not buy it as it seemed pretty expensive. What would be a ball park price for one of these knives, say without the US Senate marking? Thanks. John

John, that's likely a 906 Officer, here's a link, scroll down to page twelve and you'll find a description. I haven't checked how long a lifespan the knife had, but it's in a number of the SW catalogs, this particular cat. is the 1961 edition. I'm sure you could find a good one for at least a hundred bucks less than that if you keep a watch out. They don't show up too often. I've seen a number of senate knives of different makes and models, don't think it really adds much to the value.

PS- I've got to get out to that show!!

John,
Were you with Mark, & didn't you come by my table and say "Hi from LT?"
That was cool. It was nice to meet you guys.

I didn't see the knife at the show. I was too busy at my table and when I could get away from the table, I was buying supplies.
I imagine the US Senate blade etch is what drove the price up so high. In the past when I have seen the Schrade "Swiss Army" style knives they go pretty cheap.
I believe the US Senate etch means it was given out by a Senator. (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

Somewhere here Codger tells the story of A.B. being upset that U.S. Senators(not hockey players) were given a free SAK. he thought they should be made in U.S.A. and so had a bunch made up and wanted to (or did) give them to Senators. i have seen some on ebay, final price has been low (certainly less than ~ $40.) hope i got the story right.

Thanks for the information guys. As far as the Eugene show goes, too many knives to see, too many people to talk to, and I had to leave on Sat afternoon to go home. Will try and do better next year. John
