Is there an American Made Official Boy Scout Knife?

Case makes a small trapper but it's not what I think of as a BSA pocket knife. I think Camillus and I know Ulster used to make the more traditional looking knives. At that age I was given a Victorinox and I absolutely loved it and still have it.

There have been many over the years from companies like Victorinox and a handful of older long-gone slipjoint companies as well as luminaries like Case (the only semicurrent American made models). These days, I believe all the knives at the BSA Store are Chinese made no-name brands, unfortunately though the aforementioned Vics used to pop up from time to time.

Of course, it's been a few years since I last set foot in the BSA store here, so I am not sure who's making what these days.

There are some made by Buck and Case branded for the BSA, but the original style "scout knife" and Cub scout knives are currently made in China. They appear to be made by the same company who makes Rough Ryder knives but I cannot say for sure. I have a couple of them and they are about the equivalent of a nice Rough Ryder. I don't know of a scout style knife made in the US currently unless you can find one of the Colonial Demo knives. If someone did know of one I would certainly be interested

The colonial demo knives are terrible. For American quality, Either find an old American made Scout knife or a vintage Camillus demo knife.

Tough to beat a victorinox SAK. For the money quality and selection. They cannot be beat.

Still have an old Imperial circa 1949-1952 with a BSA shield from my youth, well built knife, it has held up better than I have.

MK&T's 'American Service Knife' has a couple of models that would work. The price would prevent it. Greg's 'et al' would stop it.

BSA members would have a lifetime Knife and Tool.

Just a proposal.

[I'm not trying to derail this thread].

Wifey picked up this old Western BSA at a yard sale over the summer.

Western made my BSA knife, a stacked leather handled BSA branded Bird & Trout. Still have it. You can find them used, USA made and BSA approved.

Gerber would have to do something? Bear grylls is some sort of boy scout ambassador

Nope apparently nothing.

So I had a look at the scout shop. You can get branded knives but it is a mixed bag.(Which makes sense some people can only afford an $8 gas station knife)

So i just found one of the better ones from Camilus. That might? Be made in America.

Camillus name is currently owned by GSM holdings. Chances of these being made in the USA are pretty slim. I have heard that you can find the identical knife without the BSA logo selling for a fraction of the cost.

For current production, Buck makes the Spitfire model. If you want the traditional scout pattern, there are none available that are made in the USA (the current deluxe BSA pocketknife is made in China). For a traditional scout pattern, your best bet is the Victorinox Tinker with the BSA logo. Victorinox has very consistent quality.
