OK, I've been lurking for a while and just recently joined. I finally have a day off and time to officially introduce myself and my knives. I'm 25 years old and work as a manager of a retail store. My wife (as of last September
) is a graduate student studying primatology. She is a field researcher and her dissertation is on the ranging habitats of chimpanzees-how cool is that?! She has been to both Kenya and Uganda to study primates. We will both be heading to Uganda in a few months so she can finish collecting data for her dissertation. I will be working as the manager of the field site while she is there. I'm looking forward to the adventure.
A little about my hobbies: I am a fitness buff. I love long distance running (especially trail running) and, as a former football player, used to lift weights a lot. I still do but only to supplement my running. I also love photography. The pictures in this thread were done quickly. I wish I had more time to put into them but they should give you a sense of what I have knife wise. I also really enjoy target shooting and everything concealed carry. My other major hobby is working on my truck and wheeling when I can: I bought a 2012 Toyota Tacoma about a year ago. Access cab with a 4 banger. Pretty much stock for now except cosmetic mods and a few minor things to improve the off-road ability on the cheap. The biggest upgrade was a new set of bigger all-terrains. Finally, my wife and I love to camp and hike with our golden retriever and also have two cats that keep us entertained at home.
Anyways, I spent much of my youth collecting knives though the past 5-6 years I haven't really bought any new ones until recently. The last few years of my life my extra funds have been devoted to building a firearms collection. As I said, I love to shoot. I have lost a lot of knives over the years through moves including the one auto I ever owned-a Kalashnikov model. Never really cared for that knife but it was kind of cool. My recent purchases: a SAK, Kershaw Tremor (less than $20!!!), and the Ontario RAT-3. I also bought my wife the Ontario RAT-2 folder in pink shown below but she won't know that until her birthday later this month. I didn't include any of the super low end knives I have because they really aren't interesting. I do like having them around though for jobs I know very well may break a knife lol.
Anyways, on to the pics:
Citadel 1911, recently acquired RAT-3, and SOG Trident-all on top of an old Navy surplus binoculars
Taurus 709, Kershaw Tremor, cross cut log
The S&W 642 I gave my wife and CRKT M16-14sf (found in the woods believe it or not)
The next two pictures are traditional Masaai warrior knives my wife brought back from Uganda. These are so cool and I think the most unique knives I own-at least for someone in the States.
Here are some of my folders:
Left to right: Gerber Suspension mutitool, SAK (forget the model), wife's soon-to-be Ontario RAT-2, CRKT M16-14sf, Kershaw Tremor, SOG Trident.
And my fixed blades:
Left to right: The first one I know nothing about. My parents brought it back from Alaska but I know it looks awesome! Next, Buck 119. SMKW stag handle given to me as a gift from a past co-worker. Ontario RAT-3. Buck Mini Mentor. Gerber Blackie Collins dive knife.
Hope this gives everyone a little insight into my long-winded self :barf: lol
