Official SOG's DOGs Contest #3! Come on SOG's DOGs, accept the challenge!

(Banter & chatting will result in immediate disqualifciation! Please keep banter, comments, & chatting limited to the SOG's DOGs contest thread! NOT one of these FOUR!)


It's that time, Sog's Dogs.. Contest.. You are hereby challenged! Those of you SOG's DOGs
whom choose to accept this challenge must do so by declaring your acceptance, "I (your name & tag #) accept the SOG's DOGs challenge!!".. The contests began at midnight tonight & will last for two weeks hence. Thus, giving all members (except myself--atleast not in these four) a chance to participate & win....PRIZES! Yes, PRIZES! Please enter, all my SOG's DOGs! Challenge #2!!! This MUST be performed with either a SOG Knife or Tool! NO other tools, knives, or equipment other than SOG items may be used. Each contest may be won by ONE member, members may only win ONE contest.. No ONE member may win ALL FOUR contests, this is to ensure than everyone has an equal chance

Contest III:Utility (Fire)

This contest is to test your resourcefulness..

Part I:Gather wood dust using either the EDGE or SPINE of your knife or tool. Dust must be
finely powdered & able to accept a spark. Set it afire. (Becareful! You do this at your own risk). You may use a lens, ferro-rod, piece of flint--anything but a lighter (of ANY sort). Points awarded based on fineness of powder, & difficulty of method used!

Part II:Craft a survival torch--i.e. cut a torch shaft, split the top (NO BATTONING ALLOWED), & craft a survival torch using ONLY natural materials! No man-made materials.
Bark, pine resin, animal fat, cotton cloth, fat pine sticks, etc.. Points awared on how primitively made & effective the torch is (brighter is better). Must also be clear that it was
made with care, not simply thrown together.

Part III:Carve a throwing-stick... Carve a cudgel balanced for throwing. Points are awarded
on balance, design, & attractiveness. Bonus points for pictures of the thrower in action.

Part III:Alternative:Fishing-Spear (or Frog-Jig).. Carve a Fishing-Spear or Frog-Jig. Tool must be clear to have been made with care. Must be atleast four-pronged. MUST include
a lanyard! Prongs must be curved (hooked). Shaft needs to be wrapped. The better & more
efficient-looking the tool, the more points you win!!

You must be awared 100 points to win. There can be one winner. Pictures MUST be provided & displayed in this thread as proof as well as the date & time. Participants MUST reply to thread & ACCEPT the challenge. Challenge MUST be met before the two week time period is up. Good luck to you all! May the best knifesman win! ACCEPTANCE of the SOG's

SOG company, or B2D (SOG DOG 1) WILL NOT be held accountable for any injuries sustained

PART I

The wood around here is SOOOO wet, its been raining here for too long. Finding a decent piece of wood for dust was a challenge, best I could find.

Used my Sog Seal Pup for the making of the dust.

Getting ready to light it.

After W A Y too many tries, I finally got it to light.

I also switched to my Field Pup for striking, it just felt better; musical knives.

The Pup was smiling, it likes working.

Both knives cleand up after PART I. Look good as new.

Trying hard to get some of the other parts done, less than two days to go.

Cool beans, Thanks. It was hard to find time for the contests, I got a late start at them, plus been so busy at work. They were fun, thanks for the exception!!!!
