I like the Giraffe bone too. I have a collection of Chutes begun and was tempted on others at Blade. Did not win the draw at John Young's table though. Saw a couple of other nice ones including one by Takahashi.

Here are some that I have currently

am awaiting an integral Chute by Bob Crowder and hope he will have it done soon but it has been a long slow project for sure. Should be worth the wait though.

that integral is the best chute i have seen till date.
i am getting mine from charles vestal soon.

Chutes are a nice pattern and some nice ones have been shown.

That Sponaugle giraffe bone is looking good and the Rodrigo Sfreddo is off the charts!

Great idea for a thread. The Loveless chute is a classic and I'd love to have an example from one of the many makers doing good work in the Loveless style one day.

I have to say though, that I am quite drawn to variations on the theme. That Sfreddo is a non-traditional expression of the concept and is a flat out gorgeous knife. The Lloyd Hale piece that Murray posted is another that I have held in hand and it made a strong positive impression.

The only chute-like knife I have is this one by Dan Farr. It's made with a prototype steel that eventually became Cru-Forge V. It's also one of the few knives that Dan has made with an active hamon (a bit more visible in the second photo with matching hunter) and also one of the few with an ivory handle. I'm quite fond of it.

Here's a rare Loveless "Hidden Pin" Chute that's currently available on Knife Legends. A real beauty in my opinion.

WOW ! And rightly so

I'm quite fond of it too ;) and the fine looking hunter ....

I have never started a thread, it looks like I picked a good topic.

I enjoy variations on thechute blade design, but I am still a sucker for the Loveless style handle.

By the way I thought I read the FAQs, how do you post the picture instead of the thumbnail unlike my original post?

Thanks David.

This one by Johnson from Knifelegends is really love:

Steve's amazing!!!
The checkered thumb-rest that's also continued on the bottom is IMO a good example where an oh so subtle design element can elevate a piece over the top.

Always a pleasure to see a thread on Chute Knives. Some beauties here, hard to pick favorites.

A little different, a 3/4 sized from Bill Ankrom, polished Big Horn:

Here's one in amber stag by Japanese maker Kansei Matsuno.. I ordered this one from him directly. He listed two fixed blades on his site at that time, but indicated he rarely made them. Some real beauties posted so far... Best, Rich

There are not many on my computer:(

Here is one by Charles Vestal, made to my request(longer blade), desert ironwood handle:

I always liked the work of Ricardo Romano(not mine, don't own one, photo by Custom Knife Gallery of Colorado:

This Lovett belongs to me, it's Mike's photo....one of the first models that he built with Bob Loveless as an advisor, had to have been at least 6 years ago:

Best Regards,
