some times the best weekends are when nothing is planed. Yesterday I finished putting G10 scales on my Gossman PSK then made a Kydex sheath
for it. Rode the Harley down to the local hardware store and saw a bunch of bikes at the American Legion so I stopped. Saw a bunch of old biker buddies I haven't seen for a while.

Today I put a couple shelves together for the shed but started the day off by removing the bark from a bunch of red oak to use for dyeing some canvas I plan on making into a bag and back pack. I am making a video of the whole process. I dyed the canvas and it looks pretty good. Carved a bit on my walking staff.

Then rode the bicycle towards the everglades, followed a canal out about 2 or 3 miles west and cast a lure to the bass for a while, no bites but who cares, certainly not I. Oh, and I ground up a bunch off wheat berry and feed my sourdough starter, mixed it all together and have two loaves of bread rising. They may need to rise for a few hours before I can throw them in the oven but I'll have some good hearty bread for lunches this week.

Agreed. I had a pretty good weekend myself. Nothing planed but was definitely not wasted either.

Congrats on yours and  on the PSK and sheath.

right on Hushnel.. sounds like a great weekend... that PSK came out great too..

Excellent Job on that PSK! What a nice relaxing weekend, I'm jealous.

It's not very often that I encounter people who make their own bread with sourdough starter. I think it's the only way to live.

I usually make a bread that is a mix of wheat and whole rye.

Well it didn't turn out as I expected, I'm just starting to mill my own grain so I expect there to be a bit of a learning curve. Last weeks effort turned out better.

This is what I was going for yesterday, I made these a few weeks ago using only sourdough starter for leavening. This was store bought bread flour with some whole wheat flour. I don't really use a recipe anymore I just keep a ball park idea of what I'm using in case I want to repeat it. If it turns out great I will write down a recipe.

That top loaf looks good. I make oblong loaves (my proofing baskets are oblong). I am hard core enough that I insist on using real cane proofing baskets, no plastics or metal for me.

I am living my life vicariously through you, Hushnel... great stuff.

Hey Rick, just trying to enjoy a few days in the short time I get to be here :)
Life is good but it's awfully short too.

I was inspired by this Blaze Orange G10 actually by the scraps that are left over from my last project. I don't want to say what I'm planning, it may not turn out like I envision but if it does it should look cool.

My wife and kid are over taking care of my sisters family while she is in the hospital, she'll be fine. This gives me the whole house to myself for the next few days to play, make noise and dust. Woohoo!
