Oh man, Busse nightmare last night

So I'm dreaming one of my typical bizarre-but-seemingly-normal dreams. In it, I'm walking thru the woods with my wife. Along the path are these tree trunks. So I'm whacking away with some sort of longish BM-sized INFI blade. (I knew it was INFI later in the dream. Actually, now that I think back, it was M-INFI - Basic 9, but a bit wider. Same smoothcoat.)

Anyhow, I notice the 3-4 "Sweet spots" based on what I'm doing just chopping into the grain and bark. I'm pulling off smoothcoat all over and it's looking great.

All of a sudden, it no longer is chopping. Just glancing off the logs. ??? I look down and nothing. My wife laughs at me and says, "The edge is rolled."

(How does she know terminology like that????)

I feel down the edge of the blade and sure enough - in a spot I haven't used, the blade is bent over. Not rolled - BENT OVER.

As I turn the knife in my hands to see the roll better, I realize the knife has separated lengthwise. (Separated at the spine and hte edge is the fold.) As I try to bend it back together the steel in teh roll just falls out. ARRGGHH!!!!

Then it ended. Thankfully. All I could think of was, "I bet a ___________ (insert much-lower-price-point manf.) wouldn't do this!"

I'm now drinking coffee nonstop. I'm never going to sleep again.

Of all the MANY things to lose sleep over in life, the performance of INFI is NOT one of them. It's like leaving the house without your pants on. It ain't gonna happen!

funny thing is my wife would totally laugh at me if something like that happened to one of my blades..... they just don't get it

That's a rough way to wake up.... I once had a dream I about a SAR5 with a chipped up edge, and this was even before I got one. In the dream I kept running a ceramic stick over the edge and more chips would fall off the edge. Weird, huh?
