I just got word that my order from Fort Turner is ready and shipping tomorrow.I just bought my first flintlock rifle (Traditions Kentucky long rifle in .50 cal) and my new 4 wheeler is arriving tomorrow.(09 Kawasaki KVF 360 4X4).
The fort Turner haul consists of a bowie thrower and an Iroquois hawk with sheaths for both.Black for the hawk and burgundy for the thrower.
Anybody else have a sweet weekend with any hawk related goodness?

Not specifically tomahawk related but I think I've finally got the langets on my new war hammer patinated where they need to be.

What I figured out was to keep applying the patination concoction, let it dry, and reapply, repeatedly when I can, then the next day rub the excess rust off with a dry cloth to expose the steel which wasn't oxidized. Then start over again. Over the course of a few days it worked.

Of course when I wasn't doing this, it was hard to resist going out and bashing stuff with it. Man that war hammer is brutal.

How thick is the blade on that one? 1095 is a great all-around steel and I'd imagine about 1/8" thick would be just about right.

Yep your right on the Money It's 1/8" Thick, And at that length It does seem to be the Perfect Balance, I dont think I've seen many Knive's with an Edge like he does, The closest thing I have that's as Sharp as that Side Arm Is my Paul Chen Pro Katana,

The edge by which I judge all other is my 1890's Sheffield straight razor.

But I don't require working field knives to be quite *that* sharp.

1095 is one of my very favorite steels. That Mr Farmer picked that to be his main steel tells me a lot about him; he's pragmatic and knows what works, nothing fancy but certainly well beyond adequate. His designs are aesthetically pleasing, have a good historical basis, and all of them seem very functional.

So yes, I do plan on buying one of the Side Arm model in the near future. It will look great in a fringed sheath.

Thanks for the link.
