I can't believe it... today I'm smiling big time :D :D :D like this!!!
As you guys know, I'm a tomahawk nuts... a big one, and I own quiet some tomahawks now, I tough I had seen a lot but today Andy surprised me, once again...
I opened my incoming package and found my brand new Roger Ranger Variant    yes...a Variant RR...Andy did it!
the head of the hawk is amaizing, so nice, so sharp, so light... The handle is a story for itself, carved, flamed, engraved with name and rang, a beauty.
The feel in hand is impossible to describe with human words. Even the smell of this hawk is great!
Do you know this feeling when holding something in your hand and it's just perfect, it's just what you've been wanting all your life? Now I know this feeling.
I've been searching for the right hawk in very long time, my quest is now over. Andy ended it with this one.
Well, I still love my VT, and my VT is still the one at my side for duty, but this Variant is something very special to me. VERY usable, light, sharp and very well balanced, and a beautifull display object as well! I can't make myself to use it!
I wish I could post pics but I'm sure Andy can fix that! :D
Andy thank you very much for your help on this one! And thank you very much from Rikke too for your kind help trough the proces of getting it to me!
Well, just for th info, Andy made a lot for getting this Hawk shiped Fedex to me, all of this under VERY rough conditions! ;)

Oli my brother...it was my pleasure to make it for you. I cannot tell you how pleased I was to read your post. I questioned myself after finishing it...not knowing if you would like it or not because it's so different.

It's polished, but I left the forge hammer marks with some scale for a period appearence. The edge is very sharp and I tested it before it left...penetrating deeply into some hard wood.

The handle indeed came out nice and I was proud of that...what the picture doesn't show is the cap and butt, which were carved in a fluted pattern, with decorative tacs as accents.

I have the lo-down on your VT Variant and will get with Rikke offline to bring her up to speed.

Thanks for your service to the Allies and to the Cause of Freedom.

The attached pic is for the enjoyment of all.

Thank you.

That is awesome, Oli!!! Any chance you taking pictures of the butt and back of the hawk??? Man, that thing is just too cool... :D :D :D

Don't K-Bars make an awesome hawk companion? My K-Bar and H&B Forge hawk sit together on a table along with a row of kukris. I don't know where I'll put my VTT which I am close to getting.

I love my Ka-bar! People can say what they want about 1095 steel or how tough those blades are in combat, I've used Ka-bar for many years in field and duty ,I never broke one! And God know how I use my stuff... For sure it's not a pry bar, but if you use it as a knife it will last very long! When generations of Marines have trust their lives on this blade for so many years in so many wars, I'm sure I can trust my life on it too! :D
Try to remove the top guard of a classic Ka-bar and you will see how it's alive in your hands! It allow a lot of combination, easier to switch to "ice peak" grip... :D
Let know when u get your VT! lucky you!

That is a beauty! Wow, one of these days, I really need to get one of Andy's customs, I'll just have to dream till then :D
