I have been trying to break in my new Zing by flipping while watching TV. I spent some time yesterday off and on doing some flipping. This morning when I resumed I noticed that my poor little flipper finger was a mite sore :p Luckily it is loosening up and I think I am getting a callous, so I should be good to go shortly :D

You should be good to go by tomorrow. I wore out my thumb unlocking my RAM over and over the first day, the next day it hurt, the day after that my thumb was toughened up

I started a thread quite a while back about catching the pad of my flipper finger on a rose thorn and ripping it open from end to end!! Big gash, lots of blood, and painful for some time. I was especially upset because I had just gotten my first Ti SG2 JYD II and a brand new all black ENER-G II and all I wanted to do was flip flip flip, but no luck:(

Keep workin' on that callous:thumbup:

Anyone else use their thumbnail to unlock frame locks, if so anyone else have a chipped looking thumb nail?

I have a lot of Kershaws but I got my first ENER-G last week and while it is a great knife it is a bit much on the finger tip....perhaps it needs a bit of a break in period....

Technique. There's a way to easily preload the flipper. My ENER-G's will open as fast, if not faster, than most of my SpeedSafes.

I wore my index finger out with my JYDII CB.
I would flip it open sitting at my desk until I got bored.

I've used a gerber evo before and I could open it just as fast but I like how speedsafe helps keep the blade locked in your pocket. The gerber takes 0 resistance to open but tore up my finger a lot quicker when I use the thumbstuds verses my speedsafe blur. I know the gerber evo is in a complete different (lower) class vs kershaws but it's the concept that makes the difference. I personally have no experience with kershaw non-ao knives so I can't comment on the ease of opening of your ENER-G knives.

Thanks for the support gang! My finger is just fine now. I am glad I spent the time breaking it in, because everyone at work was skeptical about a flipper design (many think assisted opening isn't needed and a few carry blurs, so...). Everyone that handled it liked it though, so it passed that test with flying colors. I posted some pics in the master pic thread up top. Let me know what you think of them!
