Oh No - I'm afraid my GEC 09 Esquire is lost

After a trip to the Dr. a few weeks ago for a yearly check-up (you know the kind, poking, prodding and drop your drawers) I found one of my favorites had disappeared. A GEC (Tidioute) 09 Esquire in Rust Red bone. I'm pretty sure it fell out of my pocket while I was on the examination table. I called the office and they checked but say no one turned it in if it was there. I figure the next person in the room found it and kept it, I hope whoever it is realizes what a nice special knife it is. In the mean time I keep looking around the house and car and I kept hoping it would show up, maybe it still will - I miss it. Luckily I still have my Canal Street ring opener (BF 2006 knife) for daily carry in my office pants and my 2014 BF knife for weekend carry.

What a bummer. I mean that. Your Esquire is a BEAUTIFUL little knife. Looks like its seen plenty of use and is well cared for. I hope you find it but I know the disappointment you feel.

Ummm ... Have you checked the washer and drier? Would not be the first time a knife hid there ...

I hope you find it. Looks like a great knife.

So sorry to hear of this. I hope it perhaps turns up under the car seat or someplace around the house. It's definitely a sick feeling when you reach for it and it's not there.

I frequently "pat" my pocket to check for it throughout the day, especially if i'm getting in and out of the truck or when I go places. I'm constantly mindful of it and "checking" for The Precious.

I'm sorry for your loss, sceva. :(
As Paul pointed out, that rust red Esquire with perfect patina is such a lovely, fashionable little penknife!
I can imagine how much you miss it.

Check your car seat my friend- in the tucks and underneath in the shifting tracks. My friends knife was there after being missing for quite a few months.

Thanks for the support. Yes, it is a perfect little EDC for dress carry. I kept it in a soft leather slip/pouch from AG Russell.

I am still keeping an eye out, havn't got around to turning the couch or chairs over yet. I have checked the car but will do so again as well as the washer/dryer. It won't be the first time I lost something only to have it turn up later so We'll see what the future brings.

This happened to me about a year ago. I went in for a chemo treatment and when I got home, my knife was missing. My heart just sunk because it was a gift from someone very important to me here on the forum. I called immediately. Nope. I check the truck, under the seats, etc. Everywhere I could imagine. I know it was in my pocket when I left the house for my appointment because I distinctly remembered putting it in my pocket. I called the clinic back a couple times and finally got hold of one of my nurses that knew my passion for knives and often asked what I was carrying on the days I went. I explained to her about the gift part of it being what was most important to me. She called me back saying that one of the other nurses found it and put it in a desk drawer. I breathed a sigh of relief and my daughter stopped to pick it up on her way home from work. I bought the nurse a Dunkin Donuts gift card. :D
My biggest problem that day were the lightweight shorts I was wearing. Things would tend to just slide out of the pockets. I was a lot more careful afterwards.
sceva; I hope you find it. It looks well loved.

I've had this happen before, and I've had close calls as well. I've looked at potential replacements for my edc knife several times before finding it under my car seat, in the couch, etc.

I love small knives, but mine now ride in a slip to give them more pocket-grip.

Hope it turns up!

that stinks sir, losing a well-worn knife is surprisingly traumatic. I've been on a hunt for a jigged bone (or even wood!) Esquire for a while but I still haven't been able to turn one up. They're tough to get your hands on these days!

Might be worthwhile to push a little harder . They might not of looked very hard. I friend lost a knife I gave him awhile back . He thought he lost it in his SUV but couldn't find it . I found it wedged under and between the seat rails . I couldn't see it and could barely get it out with my fingers .
I also lost my first knife in years recently . 25 Sheepsfoot barlow ( luckily I wasn't attached )

Bob's right, you should persist with the doctor's surgery. Go there in person, put up a notice. The thing is, most people are not Knife Heads like us :D they're not interested in them and don't know the significance. There's a strong possibility it could have been put aside by a cleaner or somebody else, now it's rapidly being forgotten and ignored. Power to you in retrieving your lost Squire!

Sometime you may have a good surprise. A few years ago, I thought I had lost my micra leatherman somewhere on the street by a sunny afternoon when going to my favorite bar. I searched the street, but did not find anything.

A few weeks passed and one day, the barman amazingly brought the discussion to multi tools, I then explained that I had dropped my micra and was very worried about that because I had bought it while working in Florida, St Petersburgh that is and it was a precious souvenir and a very useful tool.
He then stretched out his arm, showing a micra in the palm of his hand.
I thought I had dropped it on the street, but in fact it had been laying on the bar's cellar stair floor next to the door and someone had found it only recently. Guess how much I was relieved!

Thank you again to everyone. Yes; I will keep looking and when the weather is warmer and the snow goes I will dig deeper in the car seats and tracks. I will also stop in at the Dr's office to check back with them. It WILL turn up but, if not, such is life.

Also; Please accept my humble thanks for the generous member RobbW that offered a replacement. I have been blessed in this world with many irreplaceable things, my wife, my new twin grandsons, many friends, fairly steady work and a good life. The good members of the Traditional community and how they look out for each other is one of those blessings that I am very thankful for. The loss of a knife, even if it does not turn up is a very small thing in the scheme of things and is of minor importance.

I just found a case sodbuster I thought I had lost, hadn't seen it in months. The other day I put on a coat I hadn't worn since last winter and felt something in the pocket and there it was.
