Oh sweet! ...oh, crap.

2003 - T standing up
2004 - T inverted
2005 - T laying on its Left side (offshore)
2005 - Idaho (USA )
2006 - T laying on its right side

Chinese? I guess it depends on which way the "T" is laying :) My china Mantis 198 has the top of the "T" closer to the model number. The one posted above on e-bay has the the top of the "T" away from the model number...so, based on the note from LFH, the one on e-bay is a 2006 Idaho.

OK Guys, The year stamps have nothing to do with where a knife is made.

Difference being that 2005 USA made knives have the Idaho.

In 2006, we will have to go back to, as previous years, looking at the Tang stamp to see where a knife is made.

Won't take us long to figure out the new models and whether off or on shore.

Oh,,, another clue may be that when you go to the Buck web site and plug in a new number in the search function.........nada on the chinese numbers that I know/tried.... Maybe the Buck site is wayyyy behind...

WELL EXXXCCCUUUUUSSSSS MMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! :D :D :D
Yeah, you are right, it should say "China"...I "think" that is why you see less of the pics of both sides of the open blade on flea-bay. My ChinBuck is stamed on both sides...the photogenic side says "189" with the dead "T" and "CHINA" on the other side.
AND, while I was "never" going to buy a ChinBuck, I did. It's a good knife for the price point.
Remember when "Made In Japan" was a bummer?

I knew that PR ;)
I just thought it a "DOH" moment on my part not thinking of checking both sides of the tang...but that's not possible unless both profiles are put up on the auction, ya ask the seller, or you can handle one IRL.

So far all the China made 300's I have owned, and I bought a 371 to add to the clan tonight, have been stamped "China", but on the sheepsfoot blade, not the main blade. Except for the 379 "solo" which only has 1 blade.

1 thing I noticed about my 371 when I sat down and compared it to my 2005 301, was that theyare not identical. The blade in the 371 are all slightly different than in the 301.

My guess it is from China. There are a few more wooden scale 300's discussed here:

It would be nice if Buck decided to make these over here as they look sweet. I know labor is real cheap in China, but I think it is a mistake to make Bucks over there. IMHO
It's not a matter of a " mistake".
It's simply another example of disgusting corporate greed.
Buck sold out, even though they have plenty of buck$~$$.
Money talks.. Who needs fame and pride when you have so much cash you can't see straight. :(

Praise WalMart ( PBUT). The first letter refers to a human waste product.

I'd love to see Buck " repent"
