What is it with people thinking my 3" fixed blades are throwing knives? Every time I show one to someone, they always say, "Oh that's a cool thrower," or "Oh that would make a good thrower", or something like that. At first it was my Izula that would do that, so I figured maybe it was because of the green color or something like that... I don't know.

Maybe the people saying that don't know what they're talking about??
Maybe you could take it as an opportunity to explain why they are mistaken?

I generally do not throw knives. I did that in high school and lost quite a few knives in the wilderness that is my parents backyard. If I needed to attack something in the distance I'll use a gun, a bow, or just charge like a drunken rhinoceros on speed. (Bad foot, run like I'm drunk, and at 6'4" 250lbs most people get out of my way.

I have not, nor will I ever, see what motivates some people to think knives meant for use in the hand would be better served for throwing. I consider the entire notion absolutely ridiculous, to the point of stupidity.

Because you can get good at it and it is actually fun. I have several fixed blades that I don't throw. This Sog Tigershark just happens to be indestructible! It doesnt mean that I dont care for it, It has a well maintained edge. But somewhere along the course of its long life, it lost its handle so I just wrapped it. Why is everyone so uptight anyways? I do want I want so get over it.

It's kind of a running joke for my friend. He says that about a lot of knives. He's only half-joking. He likes to throw knives.

yes ignorance is bliss lol . But just a thought what dose make for a good throwing knife ?

A sebenza of course. Duh. Or a Strider, Hinderer etc. I love throwing and losing my expensive knives.

Nothing wrong with throwing knives, i don't do it, used to when I was a kid but not in the last 40 years, my only advice is if you're gonna throw a knife, use a throwing knife, they're made for that purpose, not so brittle that they break the tips, balanced to give you better results and usually cheaper than a BKT or SOG, that's for sure.

Now ya got me thinking, I have an old edgemark throwing knife and I got a nice old 4' in diameter piece of some sort of soft wood from a tree we cut down, I'm gonna go throw a throwin' knife. :)
