So I'm at flea market on Saturday......of course there are plenty of fine gentlemen with the biggest selections of Mtech knives I've ever seen. I did stumble upon a man who had a decent selection of traditional patterns at nice prices. My interest evaporated when I saw him selling bongs to underage high school kids. As I moved on, I ended up in the back corner of the building at a coin dealer's stand. In his last display case, I noticed some knives. I talked with the man for about an hour as he pulled out boxes and boxes of knives....he has some great stuff. I'm going to go back and take some pictures. I walked away with two case peanuts. He has a damascus peanut I wanted but he didn't have it with him. It's the random damascus with the stag scales. It would be a nice partner for my raindrop damascus peanut.

Here is what I got. Brand new Ace Hardware peanut...CV with red bone scales.

I got it for $25...not bad at all.

Next up is a 2 dot 62022. The squared off bolsters caught my eye. The scales are jigged derlin. I may be mistaken but I think these are a bit scarce.
This one appears to be unused. It has been knocked around a little bit but it is great shape. It appears to still have the factory edge on both blades.

Paid $35 for this one.....

Hey morrow, what flea market do you go to? Is that the big M over in middletown,Pa.? or somewhere better?

I'm over in York county, I get to that middletown market my self every once in a blue moon. The flea markets in adamstown and mechanicsburg are my favorites though.

Where are you going in Mechanicsburg? How is the knife selection?

Williams Grove, its all outdoor though and I think the action there is pretty dead at least for the winter. But I found some good ones this past season including a Schrade Cut co. with 3 backsprings.

Great finds morrowj! Speaking of peanuts, what do you make of this one: a red bone two dot stainless with shield SR6220. I can't seem to find any production info on it-

ea42, looks like your stainless peanut might have that red appaloosa bone on it? I'm not sure about that but it looks like that smooth bone that case was calling appaloosa. Would have been made in 1978.

Thanks flylock! Yes, the back does have a more mottled color to it, with some off white mixed with the red.

EA42,
You are in Wallkill! My brother lives in Montgomery. Great area!
Any cool places like antique dealers in the area to find surplus knives from the areas defunct makers? I always think of Schrade when I am in the area.

billym,
I actually find very few knives in general, let alone Schrades, at antique stores around here. Mind you, I haven't been to every one, but the few that I have gone to generally have a handful of 90% used knives in a display case and that's it. I have seen a few at local auctions though, but the prices usually skyrocket way past what they're worth. I've actually had better luck with Schrades out of state than I do in their former back yard. Sorry for the thread hijack morrowj, I'll see if I can dig up another peanut photo to keep with the theme:) :
