After my 2 month wait it finally arrived - my new, skookum 18" AK. Simply unwrapping it was a joyous experience. But holding it in my hand... well, I just had to go outside and see how it worked. Now I'm in love!
I'd read a lot of posts on this very knife and thought I was prepared for it, but I wasn't even close! This thing practically EATS wood! 16" stove lengths of very seasoned pine could be reduced to chips in about 2 minutes. What had been branches are now twigs. I'm happy.
Only one "drawback" to the whole package, and it's just a silly little one: the words "MADE IN NEPAL" are stamped rather crudely into the blade. Makes it look kinda like one of them tourist khuks (except this would chop a tourist khuk to slivers!)
The serial number is 109 (the "9" was actually an upside-down "G", but I think they meant 109)
Bill, thanks oodles for all your efforts. I'll think of you (and all you guys from the forum) whenever I use my new AK. (Ugh, what's that gonna be? A couple of decades?)
Thanks again,
D.
