Is it just me or do the rest of you guys see a marked drop in sales in the Knife Maker's Exchange since the ""Upgrade""?
I looked through a lot of the threads and knives that should have went out of here fast are still up for sale even with dropped prices. I don't believe the line, "It's too soon after the Blade Show" either. I know it looks like the threads are getting lots of hits but out of those hits, how many of them are other knife makers just looking around to see what their friends are making?
Go ahead, Spark, lemme have it full bore, but I had to speak my piece!
Michael

It does seem to to be a lot "quieter" in there since it was moved. I'm not quite sure why it got moved, but maybe it'll pick up as more people find it.

We pay a higher $$ for knifemaker status, but take 2nd chair to Gold members who can post their wares in a highly populated subforum. Doesn't seem right to me either.

I wish we could just do away with the "by knifemaker" and be able to post our knives for sale in the "by custom knifemakers" subforum (the same forum that Gold members get to use).

Now...who's gonna alert Kevin to this thread?

We asked for a special Makers arena.....still wish we had the Crit Pit...

Whatever we do....we need the exposure here....right now it's just a lil' corner....:(

Ask yourself this: Newbie to the Forums...Where do I look If I want to buy a knife...DUH.... Exchange
Needs to be moved back to the exchange IMO

Yes sales have stunk I am withdrawing the blades I have this evening.

If enough of you guys feel the same as Mike does, I'll make sure Spark sees it.
I need to go back and read that thread about changing things and see who wanted it moved :D

lol Kit. Now no one else will post in agreement here until they check that thread and make sure they didn't agree then. ;)

I don't mean any offense or disrespect but I believe the fixed blade and folder sale forums by maker should have remained in the knife exchange. I'm not new on the forum and even I sometimes forget to check them out.

I think it would be most beneficial to move these forums back to the knife exchange. If space is an issue I'm sure the folder and fixed blade for sale by maker forums could be combined into one "Sales from the Masters" forum or something. Just my opinion.

I'm not a knife maker and I'm not selling custom knives so this post is a completely unbiased approach. The makers deserve their work in a better location.

I originally voiced my concerns about moving the Knifemaker- For sale areas away from the exchange area, mainly for this reason, but also for moderational reasons.

I used to visit this area quite frequently, but since it was moved, I find myself skipping over it, since it is it's own category.

Let me know if I can help with whatever you want to do.

I would have to agree with the fact traffic has slowed. Not just for my self, but for those I know move knives at a steady pace. It took my a while to find this after the change. Paul

I'll probably get hit with the blame..........but just for the record, this is what I originally proposed:

Knifemakers could still post in ShopTalk, but there would be a sheathmaking, gallery and supplies subforum.

ShopTalk
- Sheathmaking
- Gallery
- Trading Post

Then just rearrange the "For Sale by Knifemaker" part of the Exchange - rather than remaining banished to the last link on the page - Like this:

For Sale by Individuals
- For Sale: Production
- For Sale: Automatic
- For Sale: Custom Knives
- For Sale: By Knifemaker

There doesn't seem to be enough traffic to warrant a split between fixed and folding.
(emphasis added)

You can see it in this thread:

IMHO, we need to stay in The Exchange, but get better exposure (not just at the bottom of the page in a literal "corner".....)
