Howdy,

Heres a Pic of a Old Work in progress
blade when i was just starting out.

The Custom Private collection Art stuff is fine ,but its alot more work than just making
Great using stuff.

This one was a Pic i had of a Work in progress at one time.

Carbon blade (big) moose horn handle
and the Castings , all done in 14k
all 6.5 oz of it...... Even the Talons had the Stimpling on the skin surrounding the Talons/with feathers too.

I guess the Art knife collector stuff for Private estates was ok,

but i think the True art of Knifemaking Lives in performance. I guess thats why i make Users.

I have thought about getting back into it and incorperating performance into Art,
But its a fine meshing of the two to pull it off.

Do you other Guys find this Aspect of Custom art the same.
I know more than a few high end makers who although they make King Quality stuff, they dont harden the blade.

anyway heres what i use to do,lots of work,
and time with a wax pen,and then ya have to cast it. 8-)

they dont harden the blade??? why on earth not? sheeesh might as well use aluminum then, sure is easier to grind and file.

no matter how fancy it gets it should first and foremost be the best knife you can make with the best materials.

Howdy,

These are the type of Knives that get looked at,heck i have even seen them with Blunt unbeveled edges,,,lmao,,,,,true story.

Mr Herman i looked at your site and i can see that you do make functional Art,,,love Em!! great stuff.

I doupt this trend would be tolerated today but 13 yrs ago when i was making stuff like above it was common.

Regards,,,Allen
