Hey All,

First, Lorien I have no skin in this game but after several conversations here with our friend STeven I decided there is not enough done to bring buyers into the custom knife world, so I wanted to post something about this. However if this is something I'm not allowed to do then please delete the thread.

The Spirit of the Blade will be held at the Miami county fair grounds in Troy, Ohio. Some of you may be familiar with Southern Ohio Forge and Anvil (SOFA) and the show will be held next to their facility. It is being organized by Joel Worley JS who is a hell of a knife maker.

Tables are $80 for sellers and admission for everyone else is only $5. It will be held this weekend Friday 3/3 1PM-7PM and Saturday 3/4 9AM - 5PM. I have no idea how many makers are signed up, but I can say that when we have mini shows at the facility during ABS hammer-ins there is always some spectacular stuff there and some well known makers. In addition to the knives I know there will be at least a few suppliers there as well.

The address is:

650 N. County Road 25A Troy, Ohio 45373 (Miami County Fairgrounds-Duke Lundgard Building

Site: https://www.facebook.com/events/207372749623881/

I'll be there Saturday and I hope to see some of you guys there.

Shows are still a really important aspect of the C&H knives community, and I'm all for having this forum be a conduit for getting more people to more shows in more venues all over the world

I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a stickied 'upcoming knife shows' thread...?

Naah, just let em recycle, bud. Stickies are the first things to be ignored, usually...

Well, Matt I have to say that there is nothing wrong with a Sticky as there seems to be less info about shows all the time. Ohio and Michigan have shows that for the past few years, I have seen no mention of. I have been to Troy before for a Hammer In and it is nice to see that there will be another show but it is too bad that the info had not been made available earlier. Maybe Lorien or some other Mod could have the responsibility of putting up show information for as we all know it is important, particularly in the age of the internet, to have new collectors actually "see" knives and handle them prior to trying to become involved in collecting.

hey let's discuss the use of stickies in another thread, to be started now...

Murray, I think you misinterpreted my post - I wasn't implying that threads about shows aren't a good idea. I was stating that posts aggregated into a common 'stickied' thread tend to be overlooked and even ignored, over time. Also, it requires someone to maintain it in order for it to be timely. Seems to me that it makes more sense to do what Clint just did with this thread - post up the details in a FRESH thread, that will be relegated to the bottom of the pile as it becomes less and less pertinent.

Thanks Lorien. I agree this is a great place to get the word out about shows.

Sorry for the late post Murray. I only found out about it recently myself. If you can't make it I'm sure there will be another one next year so hopefully you can make it then.

My plans have changed and I may not be there Saturday but I will be there tomorrow. So say hi if you make it out.

I'm going to try to make it up there. I just found out so thanks for posting.
I searched the SOFA site and the facebook page and finally found it. I wish they would have advertised a little better.

I would love for there to be an ongoing thread with all of the different shows as I've still never been to one. even though I live in vegas the only shows I'm aware of are TKI and antique arms show but both of those are quite expensive to go as a spectator.
