I am a newbie when it comes to carry knifes.

What is legal in OHIO or what is illegal?

well, check the sticky on searchable knife laws by state. Ohio is in there. I would then google your city or county to check their laws as they may have additional regulations. Ohio revised code is very vague about what is or isn't allowed. I have seen sites that listed switchblades as legal to carry (sorry, no immediate references), while I think balisongs fall under the "gravity knife" catch-all. Personally I would check with local law enforcement to see how they enforce the laws for your area.

I read the Ohio updated 4/22/2005, http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/oh.txt
Then I re-read it.
I came to two conclusions.
1. I don't understand legalese very well. I think I read foreign languages better.
2. It doesn't mention knife, except to say that I can not have a spring activated knife.
Am I reading this correctly?

Additionally, with the changes in gun laws recently I was thinking that knife laws might have changed since 2005.

If it is this simple, I can move on to looking at hand opening knifes for self defense and everyday carry.

My brother works in the LT. GOV. office in C-Bus i will have him check with your district and i will post what i find out.
Cool?

Don't forget case law too. Sometimes the way a law is enforced is different than it's written. Further, there is usually a "rule of thumb" of some kind among police about what they consider worth their time to arrest.
