Hello, Frank here, hope im in the right place newbie here! any way i was doing some research and am wondering if any one knows Ohio's laws regarding Sword canes? i know they might classify as a concealed weapon. In that scenario i would need a concealed weapons carry permit. Yes? but all I've found are CCWs involving a handgun. This could indicate they are just plain in a banned weapons list? So any ideas? Or if you can tell me where to go to find out this kind of info that would be great to, thanks! Oh and FYI I'm 18 so i might be required to wait until im 21 before im able to get a permit or carry it?

This is just my opinion but I suspect a sword cane would fall in a similar category as nunchucks IE other banned weapons as determined by the state of Illinois.

Conclusion on Ohio Knife Law

Ohio law allows for the ownership and open carry of any type of knife.

Conceal carry statutes in Ohio do not specify any type of knife, other than ballistic knives, that one may not conceal carry. Instead, it makes it illegal to conceal carry any deadly weapon. The Courts have called everything from a pocketknife to a steak knife a “deadly weapon”. The test however, is whether the instrument is deadly AND is made or modified to be a weapon or is being carried as one.

I don't know about the sword/cane but I do know for sure that an Ohio concealed weapons permit ONLY covers firearms, it doesn't allow you to conceal other types of weapons.

Also I know that 'chuks are legal to open carry, it's actually a pretty common thing to see around my area.
