I was downstairs minding my own business putting on a mirror finish of my Lamey Pearl River Hunter when my son, one of the 1999 Knives Illustrated award winners (last summer essay contest) walked in sporting a few of dad's knives:

I thought he looked prepared if you asked me. I wonder where he gets this from?

Knives Left to right are:
Griffith tracker in his right hand, Lamey Pearl River Hunter in his left, an old Solingen stag that I had as a kid, Helles Fighter, Lamey fighter, Lamey "Mutha" camp knife in a custom Graley sheath, a small HI Khurki and another old German stag knife I had since the 70's.

Thank God, he couldn't get to the knives in the safe!

Hi there Kodiak!
When I was your son's age, I used to walk around my room with every knife I could find strapped to every body part I could find, as WELL as packing "heat" with the replica guns I got from a place in Alexandria VA. I'd have about 8 knives and at least 10 "guns", walked about in a surplus army jacket with a WW II German helmet.
I'd wander about the house like that, causing my parents to begin wondering about me.

ANYways, I just thought I'd pass that along to let you know that your son's just fine and he'll probably turn out to be a nice normal person like me.

All proud, etc., that there's another "me" out there,
I remain,
VG

PS - Ask him if he wants to buy a genuine ballistic knife, please.

If he knows he's to inherit them you might want to watch out, he looks well armed...

Good looking boy, looks like you've got him started down the right road!!!

I think it's time to raise his allowance, so he can start buying his own knives, and you can carry your own around like that.

It is good to see a young person learning about personal responsibility and the pride that comes with handling fine cutlery. Good on ya!

Hey Greg,
Sure is a handsome young man with all of those knives. It's a good thing that he takes after his mother in the looks department and not dear old dad. Sure does make a dad proud when his kids have some of the same passions that he does. Especially when its bladed.
You must be a proud papa.
