Hey guys i would like some advice and info. I got the chance to play with DWK2 victronics OHT and realy liked it. For the price and the utilitly of that blade Its a great folding knife. Dave suggested that the Workchamp would be a better buy. For the pliers and the scissors. Would anyone who owns both knives post some pic of the knives next to each other. I would like to know how much thicker is the workchamp. What do you think of the pliers? If you can show the pliers in the hand to help me get the idea of size. Your opinion of each for every day carry. Hanging with you guys this knife sickness is rubbing on me.

The pillers aren't very good. They're too small...
The Workchamp is a pretty thick SAK.The OHT is much more comfortable in the hand and has a stronger lock.
If you really want the pillers you should get the Swiss Tool or Swiss Tool Spirit ;)

Here are some pictures - hope they help. I've not got an OHT but I think my Forester and Rucksack are the same thickness.

I really like the Workchamp; one lives in my work bag (network engineer) and another lives in my car's glove box and sometimes moves to my rucksack or a pouch on a Spec-Ops sheath. The work one has been used for loads of stuff: cutting and stripping wires; undoing computer cases, cabinets, etc; sawing plastic cable containment; cutting paper and tape; making holes in plastic containment and boxes; tightening small bolts; etc etc.

That said, other than working I don't see it as an EDC because it's too thick. I don't like bulky things in my pockets. Also, I completely agree ZombiaO that the pliers are too small for anything other than occasional use. I see them more as 'large tweezers' to be frank. They've only been used on light stuff when I was too lazy to walk across the room to my bag for some proper pliers or spanners. Stangely, the pliers on the Workchamp are actually shorter than those on my Swiss Champ  I would still rather have them than none, but if you really need pliers, then get a swisstool or similar. I carry a leatherman if I think I might need pliers but don't want to lug a tool bag.

The scissors are more useful though; it's often easier to use scissors than a blade to cut something.

Anyway, here's the pics:

Thanks guys thats exactly what i wanted to know.
FoxyRick thanks for the pics. The workchamp is much thicker, I want something to just carry in my pocket with out alot of fuss. The pliers look like very strong twizers more then pliers.

I use the pliers for hook removal while fishing if needed, if you want to use them for work,I buy the Swiss mutli-tool...

hi Sasha..:) i have never handled a Workchamp, they seem like great knives... i love the OHT and have had mine for a long time now.. i would reccomend getting one with a plain edge instead of the serrated edge...

Just another one to throw into the mix...I really like the Outrider, although it isn't a one hand opener, it has what the OHT has in terms of tools (exception the OHT has a #2 phillips and the Outrider has a #1 phillips) plus you get the much loved Victorinox scissors.

I'd urge a second thought on that too. Nothing at all against the OHT but I don't miss one handed opening on the type of knife the Outrider is at all. The Outrider is near perfect for me. In this case I'd put more weight on what exactly the tools are once open than the method of opening one part.

Just a bit more to ruminate on.

I have a Victorinox OHT and IMO the only flaw in the pattern is the lack of scissors. I really find scissors handy on a multi-tool. The pliers in SAKs not so much.

The Outrider is a nice combination of tools, but it lacks the one-hand opening of the OHT, and it also uses the looser "side lock" Victorinox uses on many of their lock blades, instead of the liner lock of the OHT, which I find far supperior.

It also has the worthless corkscrew, which thankfully they left off the OHT!

Worthless? I beg to differ! :p

1. I've used the corkscrew on various SAK's so many times in hotel rooms, guest rooms and tents for opening bottles of wine (that's real wine, not anything with a screw top) that I couldn't even count them.

2. It holds the mini screwdriver, which I've also used on a few occasions to repair folks glasses, as recently as about 3 months ago.

3. .... ermm... well... a SAK just doesn't look complete without a corkscrew. It's traditional!

Maybe we should start a 'uses for SAK tools' thread!

Seriously though... for my 'survival kit' SAK choices, I don't need or particularly want a corkscrew; it's a waste of space. For EDC around town though, especially on holiday, I like one, just in case. What I would love is an alox SAK, like the Farmer, but with scissors instead of the saw and a corkscrew somewhere. I know the scissors can be done but not the corkscrew :(

The Wenger Ranger is very good too ;) It's a bit bigger (120 mm) than the large Victorinox knives (111 mm).

That`s the main reason I chose the Forester over the OHT. I also store a mini screwdriver in the corkscrew (I wear glasses) If I need to unscrew a phillips screw, I use the tip of the can opener. Plus, every OHT I`ve handled seems to have a little bit of blade "wobble", my Forester does not.

I also really like the Outrider. Great combination of size and tools, imo. If they added a #2 phillips and metal file, I'd buy that combo too. I just don't like the pliers as found on the work champ or hercules.

Oh thanks guys now you make me look at more knives.. So i checked the Outrider and i like the idea of scissors. As i have a leatherman micra and i used the scissors often. Same time i got my micra on the key chain and i got the keys with me almost always. I need to find a place that carries them so i can put them in my hand for the feel. I liked the way the blade locked on the OHT. As a none drinking man i got no use for the corkscrew.

Sasha are you thinking of this as an EDC or a Backpacking, Outdoors knife?

Sounds like you got the EDC covered. In that case get the OHT.

Reuben im mostly looking for a knife to just carry in the pocket all the time. Go on hikes or backpacking. If i think i might need something to work with i just take the leatherman. Which i carry in the pack 99% when i go hiking just in case. The OHT that dave had realy felt good in the hand, the blade was the right size for me to do anything i could think of as well. Im very inclined to just go with the OHT...
