OHT Plain Edge and Hiker

On our recent mini W&SS hike with Ray, Dave, and Sasha from the forums we had a few Swiss Army Knives and Sasha was interested in the OHT PE so I thought I would share with everyone here.

C Bryant called me with some earth shattering news today...he got a Vic Hiker! Welcome to the family C and I hope you like it.

Those OHTs are sweet!

Yes, I finally broke down and got a SAK. I had a hiker years ago and have no idea what has happened to it. It is really nice to have one again.
 
great pics Reuben...:thumbup: the OHT is an awesome knife... i have had one for years now... it pretty much lives with my camping gear... i wasn't to fond of the serrated edge that it came with, so i had SCIBEER ground it down for me and make it a plain edge.. it see's a lot of action.. i also have a kydex neck/belt sheath for it, made by NORMARK...
 
I always carried a vic until I made my own slippies, now they ae bakcups in the truck and car. they are really great knives and a great value. If I can only figure out how to make a corkscrew!!!!
 
I like my SAKs... I bought my OHT before they were offered with a plain edge. I ground the serrations off of mine, and it still works very well.

Yesterday I had to use the saw on my Farmer to finish cutting through a 2x4 that I couldn't get through with my battery powered circular saw. Very handy tools.

You would be surprised at how much work one could do with a VIC Hiker. I think TexasTony also uses one. The OHT and Hiker have the same tools, just a little diferent in the presentation.

Those OHT PEs were a special run that was sold through Swiss Bianco and individually numbered. Don't know if he is making any more, but you could ask Roger at www.swissbianco.com

He was working on a second run with red aluminum scales, but seems to have run into some problems with suppliers.
 
Love that OHT in stayglow :thumbup:. When I first learned they had OHT's available in PE, I was a little annoyed too. But then I took a step back and realized I ALWAYS have a PE folder or fixed on me at any given time, so the serrated blade of the regular OHT actually wasn't that big of a deal and probably will come in handy one day when I want serrations to cut something. I know it's nice on tough bread...:D
