Oil leaking from pivot?

I have been reading these forums off and on for a few years, this is the first time I have become a member though. This is a great forum because I can usually find a answer to whatever knife questions I have. Anyways, my question is this:
I have a startac umnumzaan I bought from Wilson combat a couple weeks ago. I cleaned the crk grease out and put some nano oil in instead. Only one problem, it seems the oil likes to leak slowly through the pivot. I wipe it off, don't look at it for a while and then its back again! Does anyone else notice this? I did not put alot of oil in their, just a couple drops. I think pictures will help you guys understand.

That's normal. I also use Nano Oil, and it will seep from the pivot. It's no big deal. i just wipe it off from time to time to keep any dirt from getting attracted there. Remember, you don't have to use very much of that stuff. A little goes a long way!

Is there a reason why you use oil instead of the supplied grease that CRK recommends? I've only used his grease and the Finish Line Extreme Fluoro Grease that's suppose to be the same stuff and I haven't had any seepage or performance problems from any of my CRK knives including my Star-Tac. Just curious what the advantage is with the oil.

The grease works fine. It is just a matter of preference for me. I like the action to be a little quicker. But I'm sure down the road I will probably put the grease back on just for a change. I am assuming the reason it does not leak like oil is because of its thicker consistency. But when mine arrived new there was slight oil leakage even with the crk grease. The only way first noticed it was the the titanium had a slight discoloration when looked at in certain lighting conditions.

Yeah sometimes I use oil, but I apply with a toothpick and very little.

I dislike the oil leaking.

It won't hurt to leave my knife like this until I need to re clean it will it? How much should I put on next time? A pin head of a drop or what? I sprayed some compressed air to try and get some of the excess oil out I do not know if that helps or not.

No, it won't hurt it at all. Just wipe it off. How much you put on is up to you, but what i do personally, always makes a little leak out for a few days after. Then it's fine. I put some on the pivot hole of the blade, the "spoke" of each washer gets a TINY drop on the side that makes blade contact, then i put it back together. I just like mine well lubed. i could care less about a little residue leaking out for a few days, as it will go away. But that's just what I do.
