Do you use oil for your LM Multitools? Is it necessary or can you skip it if the tool works fine anyway? According to LM maintenance guide you should oil the pivoting areas (but then the knife can't be used for food).

Only a drop or two of oil is enough to lubricate the pivoting areas. If you clean the blade before using on food, there may not be enough residue to matter. That's what I have done for the last 50 years or so. Have I been living in a fool's paradise?

There are food grade lubricants available if you're concerned about it... but there's probably more bad stuff in the food than on your knife:D

I lube the pivots and blades with 3-in-1 oil, but I don't use the tool for cutting food.

I just wipe the blades off with some rubbing alcochol before using them on food. Then, when I see it needs some lubrication, then out comes the miltec.
