Hey, do you need oil the RAT knife every day? if you just put it into the sheet does it will rust?? and wich oil you better use? Thank alot!

Bye

Lonster, go pick up WD-40 from the store, shoot that shit into the sheath and wipe away the drippage... Then sheath and unsheath as normal, and use it so it doesn't rust

I'm currently using a Tuf-Cloth on mine. Previous to that, I've just used rem-oil on them. Every day is a bit often if you're just storing them. Just oil them lightly, wiping an oil rag over the blade. Should be good for awhile like that unless you are in a very humid environment. For long term storage, do the same thing, then toss them in a small safe or rubber snapbox. Toss a few dessication sacks (the things in Beef Jerky Bags) in, and it'll keep most rust at bay.

If it's a knife I'm using a lot, meh..I'll oil it whenever I see rust, and after cleaning if it gets messy.

Mineral oil is available in supermarkets and drugstores/pharmacies mixed in with the laxatives usually. It doesn't go rancid so its safe to use your knife on food and is amazingly cheap ($3 a pint or so which will last you forever). Just a dab will do on each application.

I use it once every few weeks if my knife is sitting around. I use it after cleaning and/or sharpening. And I use it after its been put through some hard work. I find cleaning/maintaining my knives a relaxing activity, so I probably do it more often than necessary.

Aye, silicone rags seem to last the longest, but mineral oil does the trick too, I think I got mine for 2.11 for an entire jug of it. WD40/triflow/clp also works but I'd be careful using that knife for food prep...

If I use it or handle an uncoated surface, I just wipe it with a cloth thats soaked with breakfree CLP. Once it's wiped down with a little oil, it will be fine until that oil is physically removed from the surface, via work or handling.

The only way I would oil it every day is if I was using every day! I'm not that lucky to have enough free time to do that.
