Oil vs Wax for long term storage

I was wondering what everyone uses on their GEC if they’re going to put it in the safe and not sure when it might come out again. I have Ballistol and Renaissance Wax. I just put some wax on and buffed it off and then put it in the safe. What are you guys doing?

My small collection of new in tube gec (that i can't use for shame!) get a squirt of acf50 and are put happily away in stasis.
I have workshop tools and machinery in a cold and at time damp garage that show no corrosion or degradation years later. The stuff is good.

I will go on a kick of Renaissance wax, will usually put 2 or 3 layers on before storing. When I go to handle the knife again (2 or 3 day viewings) I will smear it with frog lube. Both products have worked well for me. I can physically see and feel the frog lube on the knife and with wax it is an assumption all areas are covered

I've found that plain old Chapsitck has worked on some tools and blades in a pinch. A bit on a finger and rubbed around worked well for a two year stay in a unheated non climate controlled shed.

Ren wax and once that dries use a tuf cloth.

If in long term storage oil can somewhat dry, become sticky, and sometimes even tarnish blades. Don’t ask me how they can tarnish, I just know I’ve seen it.

I use renaissance wax and mineral oil. I know ballistol is commenly used, but I would not use on traditionals due to possible discoloring of brass liners.

Heavy Duty Silicone spray from walmart. Spray it on and wipe it off with a chamois. Put some GEC's up 13 years ago with that treatment and they have done better than anything I have tried. At one time I actually did a basic test of my 3-4 options and that was the winner. Now we have seal1 and froglube that would probably be great choices; but I still prefer an option with no residue after it dries for storage.
