Just put a couple of drops of gun oil in the pivot area and now it seems like it's harder to open. Did i do something wrong? Should this knife not need any oil?
Should I flush it out with some water?
or just use it and not worry.

Any ideas?

G35,

Try washing the knife under hot soapy water. Then blast the pivot area with WD-40 to displace the water. Let it sit overnight do allow the WD-40 to dry. Then apply a drop of that gun oil again.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing you must have had some crud in the pivot before you applied the oil. The oil might have loosened up the crud just enough to foul up the action. In the future, you might try blasting out loose debris with canned air (found in electronics shops and wherever computer supplies are sold) before applying the lubricant.

Your knife's pivot will loosen itself up eventually, as long as it's not actually glued with some kind of adhesive, so don't worry.

Great, Thanks ROCK.

I bet it was lint from being in my pocket that gumed it up. I will flush it out and all should be good.

Thanks.

Hey there G35.....Pocket lint sounds like the problem there. That the one you got from me?
Good advice...flush it with the hot-soapy water but be sure and dry it real good and then add some oil and maybe wipe it Tuff Cloth. Heck, my Spyderco went thru the Washing machine once....came out spic & span!

I normally use tri-flow. Then I clean it out with warm water, then reapply the tri-flow slightly around the pivot and let it dry for an hour or more. Make sure you move the knife blade around to evenly distribute the tri-flow though. Works for me.

Yes Mike it;s the great knife I got from you.
I really do like this knife.

Chang I was thinking of some Tri-flow too. I use that on everything, works great.

I washed the knife out with water then used some WD-40 to displace the water.
Works great now. Was reallly weird that it started to bind. I thought maybe it had something to do with the plactic or whatever there made out of spacers reacting with the oil.

Glad it was just some crud in there that was able to be flushed out.

Thanks guys.

One thing to remember...I have heard that fruit juices and the like, if they contact Teflon washers, as in the CRKT and many other knives, can cause the washers to basically disintegrate. I haven't seen it happen myself, but something I felt I'd mention to be safe.
