I thought I'd share a pic of the new Snake Skin Micarta after I spent a little time oiling it. I think the oiled look really brings out the colors, and makes it look incredible.

What do you think?

Here is a pic before its oiled

And with oil, the pictures don't really do this Snake Skin Micarta justice. Once you hold it you can really see the great colors, and I think they will be enhanced with use

Of course no matter which way you like it, it is easy to keep either look.

If you like it in its original form you just need to clean it with a little soap, scotchbrite and water.
If you like the used look, just use it :D:D

Nice pics! They do look great when they're oiled. They really need to be seen in person to see the differences in coloring amongst all of the layers.

I agree, it is very hard to pick up the layers with a camera(at least with my skills) Once you get them in your hands you can see ALL the colors :D:D

Thanks Eric!
I was very interested in what this would look like, thanks for trying it. Looks cool!

Ok, do you really want to know...

This isn't a joke, as a hobby my wife makes lotion bars(ya know for your skin) she uses all kinds of things in it but one of them is Palm oil(evidently makes your skin soft) I tried it on the micarta once and it worked great so I've continued to use it.

However, I think any oil will work. You don't need much and I generally work it in than wipe them down good with a cotton rag to make sure I've removed all the excess and they aren't slick. :D:D

I know Dark Nemisis has used WD40 and he liked that, I haven't tried that.

As soon as I got my SSSHE I slathered some CLP on the handles and they look awesome!:D:cool:

On my other black canvas Busses that have seen a lot of use I don't bother with oiling them anymore. After a few oilings and a hell of a lot of use they have a great appearance:) ...even when the rest of the knife is beat raw;)

Chip,
I also like the shiny look :D:D

Mike,
I decided I couldn't let it leave home again. It was pretty hard on me the first time ;):D
