Hey guys! Just got my Bradley Kimura today and have been toying around with the thing... it has just the right amount of blade play, smooth operation, and the blade came nice and sharp - a bit of stropping and it was shave-ready :D

Anyways, the blade is 13c26 steel and I heard that although it's an awesome steel for the price, it's a bit more rust prone than others... I heard you're supposed to wipe it down with oil every now and then but am curious as to what kind  Also, the pivot pins are currently well lubed and not stiff at all, but I'm curious as to what I should use to lube them up should they start to get a bit tight.

Thanks in advance for the help guys :)

I use Tuf-Glide to coat my blades and use Tri-Flow on the pivot pins. I really think any quality lubrication will work as log as you use it.

Tuf-Glide works, so will mineral oil, esp if you use the knife for food prep.

I use food grade mineral oil almost exclusively, both for rust protection and lubrication. But Tuf-Cloth is good on the blade and Tuf-Glide very convenient on the pivots -- the needle applicator gets the lube right where you need it, none wasted.

If the blade is going to be used a lot on food, a medical grade mineral oil is a good choice as you can be sure you wont poison yourself. :D

Best in the world EEZOX KNIFE CARE or EEZOX GUN CARE. They are unbelievable search my name here. I did a test on several rust preventatives/lubricants and it won by a huge margin!

BTW: The cap locks is because that is how they spell it out on the website/bottle it stands for something. (Not me yelling);)

Well, the truth is, Killa, that you will get as many different recommendations as people who post. If you use your knife for cutting food, mineral oil is a good suggestion. For general use, any light motor oil works just fine on pivot points and a light coat on the blade is fine for protection. I have tried the silicon dry lubes and haven't been impressed, as they don't span a gap and just don't seem to give as smooth a feeling as liquid lubes.

There are two lubes that I have found to be outstanding. One is Tri-Flow and the other is Fluid Film. Fluid film is also NASA approved and food safe as well.

My tests were purely for rust resistance, but faired better than most for lube and cleaning. Now that I can't for the moment disassemble my umnumzaan it wont get any CRK grease, just EEZOX. A.F.P. you use Castrol Syntec or Castrol Edge right? Just kidding. I was going to buy Castrol Edge, but the Full Synthetic was enough for me, They wanted about 7.50 a quart at wal-mart for Castrol Edge. And they are both full synthetic. I change my oil every 20k but this time it was more like 30 I think! Plus the truck I was changing holds 6 quarts. plus an air filter and oil filter. = another 25.00 ridiculous
