I've been seeing this pop up on GEC's here and there. What exactly is Oily Creek Bone? What gives it the dark coloration?

GEC seems a bit secretive about anything to do with their covers. I might be wrong about the oil, don't know... doubt it, but don't really know 100% for sure how they get the Oily Creek look. Either way I hope they continue with these covers. I like them.
Saw cut oily creek bone? That would look amazing.
I mean... it kinda looks like a creek that's had oil spilled in it.
