Ok, Beckerheads. Act like a salesman.

I don't yet have a Becker. I'm not totally convinced yet. I kinda like the BK-5 but I am still not convinced.
Turn yourselves into salesmen and tell me why I need one. Convince me.
I don't want to buy one from you, I'm not looking for sales. I'm looking for a reason to buy one.

If you want a knife designed by a living national treasure, American made from quality steel at a price that is realistic, pick one up. You'll like it.

Great company
Great steel
American made
Easy to customize
Great community within the forum
Awesome prices

I don't have a BK5 yet but some claim it's the best Becker ever.

The BK5 is a classic American knife made of a flat ground 1095 and is easy to maintain and the steel that takes a wicked edge quickly. It is coated for protection and is as good in the kitchen as out in the field. It is a versatile knife for both bushcraft and camp kitchen chores. It has plenty of blade length to handle anything you want to slice or dice but is tough enough to handle light duties in the outdoors. As with most Beckers, this knife is easy to customize and make your own. Easy to strip, patina and micarta handles are readily available.

It is also of full tang construction made with grivory handles that are tough and moisture resistant without being slippery when you are in wet conditions.

Aw, hell with it. It's a Becker. Nuff said. Buy it!

THE END IS NEAR!.....keep it at bay with a Becker

Just got my first BK9 and BK11 two weeks ago, I am very impressed with the form and function on both blades, so impressed that I ordered a BK11 for my son and my girlfriend as starter knives! I plan on getting the Companion and the Magnum Camp very soon.

Its magical. Majestic. Cuts like a light saber. Cuts up light sabers. Timeless design by two legends. Comfortable handles. And its my favorite Becker. Anything else you need?

O I know how about some pics?

You won't be afraid to beat the living daylights out of it because:

a) it won't break

b) it won't break

c) it won't break

d) it's reasonably priced to replace

How about a free test drive?
email or PM me your shipping info and I'll send you my passaround BK5 to play with for a few weeks.
I'll even loan you my BK14 with it if you like. (needs sharpened -- who knew cutting sanding belts with a knife would be bad for the edge? :D )

Convince you? At this point I think we need to get you some psychological help to be honest. Convince? Why would we do that? I mean if an award winning design, sexy looks, capability that rivals some of the best knives ever made, a ridiculously awesome warranty, resale value that won't budge, and the ability to shave a baby doesn't get your panties moist, you got problems. Saint Peter is putting a check next to your name on a line that reads "Doesn't own a BK5" and honestly, that is not a box you want checked. What you should be asking is for us not to kick you off the island since you don't own one. But you know what, we will let it slide. This time. We can see how you might have overlooked getting one. Happens to the best of us. I mean you have been here awhile, and god knows there are a million and one knives on this site, so it is forgivable to neglect getting some of the best ones. You go buy one and we will forget all about it and we won't bring up again. Go on now, and get that expedited shipping so we can put this all behind us. ;)

Honestly, it could be worse. You coulda told us you don't have a BK2.

I don't yet have a Becker.

Uh oh...

In his defense, I don't have a 5 yet either. And I'm probably going to get the 9 first.

Here's my thinking for protourist. Get a Becker. See if you like it, and you probably will. If you don't like it, there are many of us, myself included, who would be happy to buy it from you.

They are so good, all ya gotta do is either buy one or handle one. They are like crack, so this is your warning. Then you will want another & another & another. The bonus is as stated earlier: Made in America, great steel, a living legend designed them, great forum & IF, by some chance, you were to break one doing something semi-reasonable with it, it will be replaced. What more can you ask for in a knife, the knife company that sells them, or the man that made them ? Plus there is a lot of GREAT PEOPLE here on the Becker forum.

How about this reason,,
The bk5 is just plain fun to use!
:)

It brings a smile to your face at the dinner table and cold sweats to the waiter :D

Very interesting. I may have to give them a closer look.

Don't do it - you wouldn't like it. They're not made of any unobtanium, don't cost more than a mortgage payment and there is no waiting list. Won't do a thing to dress up a safe.

Unless you are just looking for a US made hard use knife - then spend 3/4 of a c-note and get one and tell us why you're happy you did.

First off, I hate salesmen (personality defect I've got or something like that), because they try to talk me into something that I generally already know more about than they do (I research things a bit too much before I buy sometimes). So instead of acting like a salesman, I'll just point out the things that I like about them :).

For me, everything is always about value. I'm poor (married grad student), but not so poor that I am going to get something that is cheaply made. In my mind, Becker knives have excellent value for what you get, without all of the bells & whistles (unless you get the LE BK10 :)) that make other knives cost more. Some of the main things that led me to purchase my first Becker were these:

1)Great steel and HT. I think its safe to say that KaBar and Rowen are probably the two best out there when it comes to working with 1095, and it shows.

2)Love the handle design. I personally think that the handle design is one of the best that I've seen or used, its very comfortable to use for long periods of time.

3)They are overbuilt, and work for a living. They're not fancy, and are designed to be very effective at what they do. These aren't the types of blades that I would generally think of displaying or showing off to people. These are the blades I'll use when I need to get something done, and need to rely on something.

4)To me, Beckers are about the point of diminishing return in terms of value for the money. I feel like for less money, I'd be stuck with Gerbers and other things for generally less money, but with much lower quality, and with more money I might buy more "performance" but not as much as it would cost me (Busse knives for instance).

Thats about it to be honest. The sheaths on most of them could be better, but for the price I'm not too worried about it. After I got my first Becker, I found this place, and have stuck around because of all of the great people that are here. I've learned lots, and even won a knife or two in the contests they have going on around here.

Good luck with whatever you do, and whichever Becker you get. The nice thing is that they're all good, so no matter which one you choose you won't be disappointed.
