OK, I'm about 90% convinced my next purchase will be a Strider AR, but...

I own 2 Sebenza's, a couple Busse's, some customs (Elishewitz, Terzuola, Crawford, Greco)and have owned a couple dozen MT's and the usual assortment of BM's and Spydercos.

What is it that makes the Strider folders worth almost $400? The overall strength? The lock up? The action? I won't get to handle one before purchase so I'm depending on the opinion of the Forumites who have laid out their hard earned money for one:)

TIA

Hey-
I am new to striders as well, and have had most all the knives you mentioned at one point. First, the strider ar is massive. find a buck strider and handle it. if it is too big for you, forget about the AR. the blade is thicker than any i've seen on a folder and came sharper than my sebenza (and that's a bold statement). the lock up is like a vault...however this is nothing like the terzuola that is so pretty that you'll only carry it every now and then...this thing begs to be used hard. grab one. if you hate it, I'm sure you can get your money back out of it.
cheers,
Derek

To be honest there are so many points of interest that make it worth every cent of that $400. Just like has already been mentioned, the size is beyond compare. I couldn't even direct you to a similar knife for comparison. However he was right, the AR makes the Buck Strider look like a keychain :) Fit & Finish are two strong reasons also. The Strider guys really took their time designing this one. All the finger notches are done well, the scales, liners, and blade fit perfectly, no blade wobble at all. Even the divet that keeps the blade closed is going to last forever. The blade is thicker than anything I've ever seen as well, and the edge was "scary" sharp right out of the shipping package. To me it just feels sooooo right, the weight, size and design really feel good. After having the AR in your hand for a few days, nothing else will feel as comfortable or secure. We have all tried lots of different knives, and you obviously have also, best advice?....forget everything you've tried, and get ready for a fresh new experience to change the way you shop for folders.

Can't imagine anyone not liking the AR, but you could probably move it within five minutes of posting it for sale here. I can think of several people here on the forums that would kill to get that AR, if you didn't like it.
