I took the COLD STEEL BOLO out this weekend and whacked away at brush, briars, etc. for 30 min. It's edge folded over in places (on thick, dried out weeds) and dulled up quick. Man was I wrong on this one. It looked like a nice blade in the gunshop. POS! Save your Cash guys!!!

I wonder if I just got lucky. Mine rolls a fair bit, but not quite that readily. And after some work with a file after the first time, it seems like the edge is holding up a lot better than it did initially.

I wonder if the factory sharpening drew the temper on the edge a bit. Have you tried sharpening it with a file and seeing how it goes after that?

Many machetes of that class have horribly burnd edges, I have seen them blue and even black from coarse grinding. You really need to grind off the original edge and put on a fresh new one, if it still buckles after a few such sharpenings then you can try a deep primary relief and a steeper secondary bevel.

yeah, mine did the same thing the other day . took a coarse water stone to it and it holds up much better now . got it real sharp too, i cut myself and good yesterday with it . the dog tried to be an active participant in the sharpening process while i was sitting in a hammock and i barely nicked a tendon in the crook of my thumb [about a half inch deep]. that bolo will pop hairs now we'll see how long it lasts.

my cold steel kukri machete had the same issue. I redid the edge and it works ok but I wouldnt buy another. my martindale is worlds better for the same price range.
