I have decided to take the plunge and get a Sebenza. I am sort of scared to lay out that much on a knife I have never used, but I hear enough things from enough sources I trust to go ahead. I want a Classic for sure but don't know if I should get a large or a small. Should I spring for the inlays? What do you guys recommend and why? Also, who is the best to order from?

large classic is the way to go, the inlays are very nice too but they aren't that important to me personally

I have got the large and the small one, both with madagascar rosewood inlays.

I take the small one over the week with my suits at business and the large one at the weekend with my jeans at my freetime.

Both are fantastic knives. If I had to give one away, I think the small one would stay with me.

regards

I would go with the small Sebbie. It is a much better size for EDC. I've got two and am confident a small Sebbie can perform just as well as it's larger counterpart on 95% of the tasks that you could throw it's way.

I'd buy a large, from Matt D. if I were you. Actually, I DID buy a large (regular, not Classic) Sebenza from Matt D. a few months back. I bought all my Striders from him, excellent service, good prices...

I have a small sebbie and I love it. It will do most if not all everyday type cutting chores well. I will, however, be getting a large in the future. You will probably do the same too, so just decide which you want first and get 'em both :D

It's also worth noting that since I got my sebbie in Jan. of this year, I have not bought another folder for myself. (got some for others but that doesn't count) I also do not intend on getting anymore except for the large sebbie in the future. That's strong words in favor of Chris Reeve knives. They really are that good. I have not yet bought one of his fixed blades as I am a Busse man in that regard. ;)

Hi Bob. I think you should get the large because the small might be a little too small for your hands. I like the inlays but that is purely personal preference.

I personally was not too thriled with either the wood or leather inlays. I would just go with either the basic model, or perhaps a graphic.

Small Classic for indoors EDC, large for outdoors or if you just like a rugged knife.

Also get the large if you have larger hands. The small will not accept your pinky finger.

The small Sebenza never feels small. Sometimes the large is definitely Large. If I could only have only one - the Small Classic. Now if CR made an annual wood inlay "medium" classic!!!!! - Chris

I think that I would go for the large also. It makes a better food prep knife than the small. If price is an issue, go for the plain. The wood inlays add more charachter and feel better in the hand and are rugged enough for everyday carry. But if you really want a treat, get a large plain and send it to Tom Mayo for the "treatment". That's what I did. Except for a couple of customs, my large Mayonized Sebenza is the finest knife I own.:) ;)  :p
