YIKES... My RC 3 and 4 have never been this sharp. Just wonderful and very easy to use!

Good combo for a RAT blade!
 
Sounds like someone knows what you like. If you get to wanting either the diamond rods or the ultra fine rods please check with me . Usually I can beat most other stores on price.

Which degree is best for these knives? 30 or 40?

According to what I've read around here the proper setting is 40 degrees, pay attention to don't hit the base with the edge and, for a really sharp tip, start from it and push the blade to the heel. Go slowly and take the time you need.

I got one too. So far it has worked great for a couple of kitchen knives. However, I don't think I'm ready for sharpening my BM710 yet because of the recurve...

on the benchmade, just use the corners only, and probably on the fine (white) stones. The Sharpmaker does re-curve just fine and Sal covers it in the video.
 
Yeah, I ended up getting it pretty scary sharp. Just got to say though, a Sharpie really helps to make sure you are actually sharpening the edge.
 
I would suggest that you guys pick up the UF rods, it makes a world of a difference.

Also, as others have said make sure to use a sharpie to mark the edge. :thumbup:

I think these I have every knife I have put to it about as sharp as they can get. The only way they could get more sharp is if each blade had a little army man with a laser attached to it that actually cut stuff before the blade got to it.

The ultrafine rod does make a difference. It won't make it look like a mirror finish, but you *DO* get an appreciable increase in sharpness. Pass the ultra fine rods, you are going into OCD knife nut level madness. Which is good.
 
Got mine on the way, and an RC-4 that is shipping today as well. I'll have to take a little time with some old Kershaws and such before I move into into more complicated and more expensive blades...
