Finally got off my duff and got a piece of pipe for a forge. 8" diameter 3' long as I plan on using it for just HT to start out with and wanted it big enough for swords.
I have a little fan so forced air is what I plan on making with an adjustable end so I can use 1 or 2 or all 3 burners.
Got the KOA wool, propane tank, an old BBQ for a stand.

Where the heck do I go from here?

Hey Robert,

I'm kinda in the same boat and want to make mine the same length and triple burner setup also. I cant decide if I want to put a row of fire brick in the bottom or not. have you given it much thought on how you will control the air as far as how many burners you want to run? Ball valves wouldn't be cheap so I'm not too sure about that. I'm also thinking that if you plan on running multiple burners that it would probably be best to have the gas feed going to each individual burner instead of just one feed line and just rely on the valve that closes of the air/fuel mixture. I'm rambling on my fourth cup of coffee:eek:
Anyone that really has a clue please speak up.

Well being a full time maker (At least for now) I am broke as heck. This looks like a pretty good start will wind up doing a forced air for sure to conserve gas. If anybody has any parts they care to donate to the cause that would be greatly appreciated:D
Thanks for the links...more pics of your forges would be great!

Robert I have a one burner 16 inches. I use the venturi jet method. less parts if your on a budget. You can always weld on an extra length of pipe later. Alternatively Dementia has a beautiful forge for sword making he may have some plans.

If you want the 16 inch send me an email. reg_ellery@optusnet.com.au
I think it is based on the ron reils forge.

3 burners 3 times the gas ? may be. My forge does about 10 hours to a 9 kg bottle/ Bar B Q size bottle. I have a .8mm jet easy to make at home.
