Looking at the esee izula 11, southern grind jackal pup , bradford 3 . And also pros and cons please thanks

Are you thinking about the Bradford G3 or the G3 Flipper?
To be clear I am asking because I have both and love them.

I can't speak too much for the others but man I love the Bradford don't own my own but have gotten some experience with it hardest choice is what steel but it depends what you plan to do with it. I think personally for the 3 I would look at M390 and be using it more as an EDC and/or Kitchen knife.

So I have the Guardian 3 with SG2 as the steel. To be clear SG2 (64rc) is a harder steel then M390 (62rc) and retains a better edge. I love his heat treat on the M390 its makes cardboard feel like butter but he did an amazing job on this run of the Guardian 3 in SG2. Did I mention the san mai damascus on it.

I feel like I have a 3in Lightsaber on my side.

I have the Bradford G3 & G3 Wharnie both in M390. I stopped carrying my others. Comfortable inside the waistband sharp as hell and very durable. The M390 is a dream to polish and holds it's edge for quite. when I come home at night I strop whichever of the 3 knives that I have used and I clean them off with alcohol just in case I need to do something food oriented. They are also coming out with a 3.5 in some very cool steels.
Size wize it is between the G3 &*& G4. I'm looking forward to that.

I've owned about eight or nine Bradford Guardian 3's...in 3V and M390.. I gave some as gifts and sold several and still have one as my EDC in M390..and a nib one in my safe.
Recently, I bought two more in his new steel offering...Vanadis 4 Extra... and plan to begin carrying one of them soon. Very high edge retention in a high carbon steel. This one would be my instant choice.

Bradford 3 is hands down the best of this group. The izula is a great knife too. I have no experience with the jackal.

I loved my guardian 3 but traded it away because I found the knife had virtually no protection for my finger from the edge in the case of a stab. My finger was in the choil right up against the edge. (Despite the name the Guardian isn’t great for self defense emergencies)

That said, it is an AMAZIN ne t just has tons of quality built in. As a knif syou will use for chores it is truly a world beating design. As it stands I am waiting for the Bradford Guardian 3.5.

I haven't owned any of the three. But I was VERY impressed with the Bradford at the Blade Show last year. Woulda brought one home if I could figure out what I'd use it for. OTOH, I do like my Southern Grind Spider Monkey and imagine the Jackal wound be a good one, too.

That was no help at all, was it?

You're the only person online I've seen who has both the M390 and the SG2 (and frankly the only one who has the SG2 at all). Is the SG2 worth the extra money? If you were buying your first Guardian 3, which would you get?

I went with M390 for my first, but SG2 isn’t widely available. I did see one at blade show west earlier this month and it was pretty tempting.

Yeah. I think the SG2 is a bladegallery exclusive, so I don't think I'll ever get the chance to see one in person unless I order one. Based on what I can tell from my research online, it's not even clear there is a performance upgrade for SG2 over M390, and since the horizontal line design on the damascus is not nearly as eye-catching as many other damascus designs, I'll probably go with the M390 for now.

I totally think the SG2 was worth it, i have had my knife for like a year and a half and havent needed to sharpen it. The thing hones right back to shaving sharp.

I am going to take a different tack. I would find out which one fit my hand best. Then, I would find out which one realistically fits my carry mode best. For example, i like to carry mine in my front pants pocket and I need flat and easy to remove from the sheath while in my pocket. How you carry will matter.

Also, another knife I would look at is the Cold Steel Mini Pendleton Hunter in 3V. It is similar in size, very slim, and the sheath is endlessly modifiable to various carry options.
