So I found this tanto pattern somewhere online and had it save don my descktop and decided I want to try it. Ive always been scared to post any knives Ive made here as Im new and only been making knives for like 6 months. Always been scared to what all of yall pros and greats would say :(. BUT i guess i could learn alot if I show what Im doing and what not.

Pattern adjusted in size to be the right length and width and checking to make sure it fits my 1095 3/16" 1.5"x18" bar.

Ok started rough grinding and messed up alittle and went too high but not too bad. At first wanted to go about 10 degrees but ended up about 7 degrees which brought the grind line up a bit more then originally wanted.

Working other saide a little more slowly to make them match

Both sides rough ground with tips done. Will sand the tips into the main part to make it a smooth transition. Probably do it by hand to be safe.

And thats where im at so far. Kinda deciding on if I want to do some bolsters or what.

PLEASE let me know what yall think so far and what I can do different or tips to do things better. I really posted this so yall could teach and give advice as I go. Just be gentle... lol :p

Will, you might want to raise the level of your h2o bucket, doesn't look like it's catching as much schmutz as it could
Looking forward to watching your knife take shape!

I have them and a respirator. That pic was actually me grinding for a quick second. Normally I wear them 24/7.

So today started heat treating and then cleaning up the scale on it.

looking fine, Mr. Bishop. Please add bolsters! Maybe in bronze or copper? Dovetailed, of course.

Yeah I got alot of handsanding to do and trying to see the final outcome in my mind so i have some time to think about it and picture it coming together. Kind of like the idea of bronze with the red wood. Maybe if I come up with some sample ideas on shapes for the bolsters.
