A knife dealer I consider knowledgeable estimated $350-450 retail, and a "very well-respected member" here just offered me $127 on the premise that it listed for that in, what, 2008?

Soooo.... since I'm obviously out of my tits here, what is the thing really worth?

It’s going to be worth more than that.

I’ve seen some of the classic EDCs from Busse go for $300 - $400, so I’m betting you won’t get that much unless you find that one person who really wants that particular model, if then.

I’m thinking somewhere between $200 to $300, likely $225-$250.

These sort of questions are always academic, IMO. There's simply no way to know unless you just start it on the higher side and work your way down until someone decides it's worth that price to THEM. Nobody ever agrees what these knives are worth because there's no way to work this out empirically and its mostly subjective or based on a few random sales that they've seen over the years.

If I had to guess what that sells for (which can be a fun game if you're truly bored) I'd say $300.

Absolutely more than the low ball off you received! Up to what you can get for it/accept for it. Probably between 3 and $400 if someone wants it.

I agree that it is in between your estimates and also, collector interest is key!

That being said, I'd list it for $275 to start...and back off if needed. Should at least draw $225 IMO.

It is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay.

I think you would do better offering it to trade for something you really want. A collector might balk at giving you $300 for it but also have no problem with trading you his knife he listed for $450

Right now, what it's worth and what you can get for it are two entirely different things. Do you want to sell it quickly, or can you sit on it until this economic madness eases? Look around at others' posts.. it's a great time to buy, but to sell....not so much..

That's funny 😄
2023 $1.38 approx = $1 2008
To offer the original price today in 2023, one would need to offer at least $175 🤔
Glad you got a fairer deal than 127 😄

Cool little knife. Me personally would not spend more than $200 on one in mint condition, and desired trim.
These were apprentice knives and sprint run from back in 10+ years ago. there are 2 or 3 other HACK varieties if I recall.
