I only need one more thread-start to qualify for Beckerhead status before the 100's are all gone, and I'm stretching here for a topic that's, well, on-topic. So here goes. Mods can decide if it's too far a stretch or not. Hopefully I'll get points for honesty though! ;) :o

So I'm replying in another thread and just kinda naturally, other brands of big knives come up. My question for you (us) Beckerheads is, why do you choose Beckers over other name brand choppers/users/utility knives/bushcrafters etc? Is it quality? Price? Do extraneous considerations come into play, like maybe customer service or the type of sheath that comes with your purchase? Is there a measurement that might make you choose a Becker over another brand, like blade thickness, handle length/thickness etc., assuming blade length and basic design are otherwise more or less equal?

I bought my first BK&T for a very specific purpose. I had no doubt before I got it that it would serve that purpose as well as any other similar knife out there, and do it for less money than most. As such, price was the main consideration that got me interested in Beckers at first. I don't even remember if I checked the actual specs before I bought it, but I was led to it by searching for reviews for choppers. If I remember right, that's also what led me to this site, but I didn't join for a couple of years after I bought my BK9 (don't ask me why - I guess the bug just hadn't really grabbed 'hold of me yet).

Anyhow, so what's your Becker loyalty and/or preferences based on?

Well my loyalness is only about 2 months old, but really, the only quality bushcraft knives I've purchased are the two Beckers I now own. Durability and price is why I'm continuing down the Becker path. I also think it is really cool that Mr. Becker often posts on this forum... says a lot about him and the knives.

I was looking to purchase a knife for camping/survival. I always read reviews for anything I buy. The BK2 was the knife that kept coming up. I read reviews on it, and watched them on YouTube. The blade seemed perfect to me, for multiple tasks. The BK line is also very reasonably priced. I went for it, and was not disappointed. Then I thought about a bigger bladed knife, for chopping/batoning. I was so impressed with the BK2, that the BK9 seemed a no brainer. I'm very happy with these purchases. These knives were made to be used, and used they will be.

Ok, as long as we are being honest, I tend not to give out numbers for folks that "burn the fuel" so to speak on getting their quals in, but your posts made up for it, so, you got it.

There are others out there for sure, some bigger and better choppers, bushier/craftier knives, and others, but, the point I'm trying to make, is, they are all bigger, or something, whatever, Beckers are just right. Best feel, great designs, and they don't bust your wallet, and piss off your wife. You can buy almost every knife in the BKT lineup, for the price of some other big chopping knives. Everyone. And there is nothing that a BKT knife can't do, that other knives can. Period. Sure some chop better, but can you take a 12" 1/4" thick knife a carve a spoon? You can with a 9. Can you find a 5" bushcraft knife? Sure, but can it make wood jump apart when you split it? No.

Point of all this BS is, BKT are the best knife for the money out there. They are well made, well thought out, and the BK2 design IS 30YRS OLD!!!! Girls been to a few barn dances.

Plus, I know the desiger, quite well, me thinks.:D

+1 What he said. No need for more.

The first thing that led me here was the Becker reputation, specifically the BK2. After doing some research and reading everyone's opinions, I decided it would be my first. I needed a knife that size, and for the price, nothing compares. Now I'm hooked. It's a combination of utility, price, and reputation. And the reputation is well deserved.

This is pretty much my thoughts too. A big part of the being "hooked" is this forum, but the utility, price and reputation had me always leaning towards BK&T before I started frequenting BF at all.

Hey Blues.....

Welcome....

All Best
