Money is sitting in my paypal account and I am ready to pull the trigger. I am torn between Plain Large 21, Micarta (or wood), insingo or drop point?? AHHH so many choices!!

I am sure some of you went through this process when thinking about dropping $400.00+ on you first Sebenza. What did you all decide? Is the standard response just get the plain large 21 as a first? Has anyone gotten a plain and said "I wish I would have gotten that insingo micarta"??? Also, can someone explain to me the spa? also, what comes in the box directly from the dealer besides the knife?

Clearly this is 1st world problem but I appreciate the advice of owners who have been in my shoes. Thanks!

Got the plain large 21. Love it. I am still amazed at the quality every day. Once you get yours and use it for a while you will not regret it. I originally thought about the small but am glad I went large instead. My hands are large and it fits perfect. When I have it clasped in my hand the ends stick out about 3/16" on either side, just enough to use as a kubaton if need be. I have sharpened it once in the three months since I bought it. I use it every day at work to open printing paper rolls that are heavy weight kraft paper and it holds an edge like no other. I just strop it weekly and it shaves very nicely.

I don't know much about the spa treatment, just what can be read on this forum. Probably won't ever use that. All my knives are users and I don't care for safe queens.

Whatever model you choose i'm sure you will be happy with it. If not, someone here will take it off your hands without a doubt.

Large Micarta Insigno, just do it!:D

Treat yourself, then get the others later if you wish. Whatever you get you'll be happy with, so don't sweat it too much.

...but get the Insigno ;)

Spa treatment is just that. Sharpening, blasting of the scales, tune up, a check to see that all is in order.

If you buy new, you'll open the box and get
Warranty card
Registration card
Blue cloth(your knife will be wrapped in it)
Tool taped to the top on the inside
CRK sticker

Enjoy!

(and get the Insigno with Micarta inlays)

I figured a plain large would hurt the least to marr up since mines my edc.

I gotta say, Cosmetically, I really like the blue thumb stud/standoffs and the way the plain blade lays in the handles. I think I am going to go with the plain non inlay. Just so basic (and a bit lighter on the wallet for a first). I like the insingo blade in a small. Maybe if I get another, I will go with the small insingo with inlays. Thanks for the advice all!

Brailldeiver and RiverRat84. You may have just convinced me. That was my first choice and I think I am going to stick with it... I am such a waffler!!

I ended up getting a large with Black Wood inlays. I figured if I was going to drop that much coin I might as well get something with a touch of class.

My favorite combo is the insingo in the small sebenza and the regular drop point in the large. I also prefer the Micarta handles over the plain handles. I like the added grip they provide. Just my.02c PS glad to see you raised the money sorry I couldn't help you out the other day on the exchange but I was in a hurry to raise money before the Wilson Startac Umnumzaan was sold out. Just made it. Good luck I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you decide on. You'll end up with both anyway.

Just made the payment for a Large Micarta Insingo. Should be here in a few days! I got it off the exchange so it wasn't much more than a new plain 21. The only knife I have that I wouldn't get rid of to get this is my Para 2. I just love that thing. My next will probably be a small gentlemen's type like a small sebenza. An mnandi looks pretty nice to, along with the gayle bradley air. I hope the sebenza that I have on the way will satisfy me for a while:)

The thing is, since I started getting into knives, I haven't really spent THAT much money from my pocket, a lot of it comes from selling things I already had and didn't use. For example, selling a watch that I haven't worn in many years helped fund this purchase.

If you think you might like to get a smaller gentlemans folder, you should look into locating a small regular sebbe. The Regular Sebenzas are just great knives in the way they feel in the hand. Some people prefer the wider blade profile of the regulars compared to the 21s. My large regular is my EDC and I doubt there is much out there that could takes it's place except maybe a small regular.

I had a small insingo with micarta inlays, and I definitely liked the way it felt in my hand. there is nothing I could find about it that I didn;t like. The micarta definitely adds more grip and bulk to the knife.

I went for a small Insingo with micarta inlays.

Your first concern should be which model to buy. Do you want a Sebenza or a Zaan or a Mnandi? (I chose Sebenza because they are CRK's flagship line)
If you choose a Sebenza, then your next criteria should be which size you'd want. A large Sebenza is different than a small Sebenza. (I went with small for better/more comfortable EDC carry, don't need a large blade, have plenty of those already)
Once you've chosen size, you then should choose which blade type you want. Classic or Insingo. (I went with Insingo because I like that blade shape, the tip is stronger and it's a more rare and unique look)
Finally, you'll want to choose which kind you want to go for. Plain or Inlays? Inlays are going to be about $75 more expensive. If you want Inlays then you have wood or Micarta, if you choose wood then you'll have even more options of wood to choose from. (I choose micarta because they didn't have an option for Insingo with wood inlays, I would have gone with Small Insingo with Snakewood inlays if they were available, but Micarta was also nice, so no complaints)

Congrats on a great choice!!!!

Yeah, I gotta get me one of those. I have never had a Insingo and I think that a small micarta 21 is in the cards for me.
