Actually, it's "SAL" - the mark of the designer, Sal Glesser.

Hi Lenny,

It's a good question. It is Sal's signature (logo) and means the knife model is one of his designs. Models designed completely by Sal get his stamp and likewise, Manix, Poliwog and other models designed by Sal's son Eric have Eric's sig on the back. His mark looks like an E and G combined.

Yeah, that's a funny cartoon. They ran it in my local paper as a test strip but ended up going with a stupid cartoon about this boring, grumpy old couple. I can't even think of the name....
