So why did I do that??? Can anyone point me to some pics of the thing?? Is carbon fiber kinda like G-10??? I got it cause I LOVE the delica and it looked like a nice knife and a good investement (theres a surprise, its a spyderco... ) Can anyone tell me about this handle material and some pics or links would be awesome!

Does the CF have a texture? it appears to but I cant tell. Any help would be great!!!!

Thanks .

Carbon fiber handles are really nice looking (sorry, I have no pics but others will). A lot of people love them. I'm not one of them because the surface is very smooth, and I prefer a G10 type of texture like my Mili for a slip resistant grip, or something rubbery like my Perrin, a patterned texture like my Calypso Jr., or at least micarta or wood.
The carbon fibers are woven into a sheet. It is impregnated with a clear acrylic type resin. It looks great suspended in the resin, but the resin surface must be very smooth to have a clear look at the cabon fiber weave. Don't forward thrust into a resistant substance with slippery hands and you shouldn't have any problems. I think you'll love the knife.

You coudll rough the handles up to give the CF a more grippy feel. Some knifes with CF handles come rougher on purpose for the added grip, CF rough feels like sandpaper, very tactile.

It does have some neat optic qualities when polished up, tho.

Hi Runsalone.

I guess everyone has their opinions. While I respect the opinions of all that visit here, I do also have the right to disagree. That is one of the benefits of the Spyderco forum.

I have carried a CF Delica PE quite often since we made them, especially abroad. In fact it is my edc for today. I have used the knife to cut something hundreds of times. I have never experienced even the slightest hint that the handle might be unsafe, even when wet.

The ergos of the handle combined with the hump over the blade makes it quite controllable. The VG-10 sabre ground blade is one of the best cutters in the world.

I imagine if you were going to stab something that was very hard, You should "gorilla grip". But it is difficult to imagine why you would do that in the first place.

Use the knife as an edc for a while and then come to your own conclusion.

Hi and thanks to all.

Mr. Glesser thanks for the reply. I got the Cf version because it adds "looks" to a fan-freaking-tastic knife design. I absolutely love the delica, its the closest thing to not having to carry a knife and making one 'magically' appear when you need it as I think one can get. I have one of the standard FRN delicas in VG-10 and its one of my favorites.

I will love the CF delica just because of what it is probably. I was just curious about the handle material, not having ever seen any before. And its hard to tell about it from pics you know ;)

Thanks for the pics deacon!!

Gorilla Grip???????????????

I prefer my FRN Delicas. The shiny CF looks cheap and it is noticably chipped around all the (cheap looking) Phillips screws.

CF can be done much better - and has been by other manufacturers.
I would have paid more to have a better finish.

Its seems that everybody loves G10..... let's have a G10 Delica - I missed out on the Standard!
